Courthouse Bans Camera Phone

This may be old news but I had business at the judicial center today and learned once I got there that they don't allow camera phones in. So if you need to go there and may need to call someone during your stay (lawyer or whatever), switch over to a non-camera phone for the trip.

If you don't need the phone during your stay then there's a guy at a table that will check it for you... he tags it and gives you a tag, you trade back on the way out and it wasn't a big deal.

The good news was even with the construction and stuff there it was pretty easy to get in and out of there. I went in the morning though so maybe it just wasn't as busy.

Very old. This has been policy there for a while. However you can go into the pentagon with a camera phone and other county courthouses in this area. Somehow I am not surprised that FFX courthouse has stricter security than the pentagon.

At first I thought it would be because of the possibility that someone could snap a photo of a minor going into court or something. Typical of alarmist FFX officials I guess.

It's a stupid law. They won't allow camera's in but they'll allow news reporters to report word for word. Dumbass TECHNOPHOB'S!

My thoughts were that it was the judges and other employees afraid that someone would take their picture if they weren't happy with a verdict and seek revenge. Fairfax does seem to be a little paranoid.

I'm personally glad when courts take them away, judges tend to enjoy doling out punishment for cell phone chicanery whem court is in session.

Non camera phones are welcome and frequently used in the courthouse, just not the courtroom.

The rule is ridiculous. Almost every phone on the market has a camera these days.
