SB 49-0 and its not even half time, FC I told you your coaches were lying to you. There is a big difference playing SB then in Justice, Lee and Wakefield,

How are they shutting the Marshall kid down when nobody else on their schedule kept him under 200-300 yards?! How are they all in the same league? Something seems fishy!

The teams on their schedule sucked

Falls Church is lower tier football, they played a schedule with lower tier teams, except SL.

The Rb may be a good lower tier player, but the better teams in the region will shut him down

This kind of score must be personal. Anyone know of a history between these two coaches or does stone bridge typically run the score up like that?

Madison with a great defensive performance against Centreville. Offense was a bit stagnant at times, but with the strength of Centrevilles defense, it was to be expected. The warhawks dominated the Wildcats on the defensive end, holding them to just 3 points through 3 and a half quarters. They sealed it with a pick 6 with around a minute remaining in the game. Though the Warhakws are not the most athletic team, they play fundamental football, make the right plays and are very well coached. Brandon Walker is an extremely hard runner and though he didn’t rack up major yardage tonight, he was able to crunch out consistent 4-5 yard runs on early downs. Additionally, John Finney is a matchup nightmare. After scoring a long touchdown early in the game, the wildcats either doubled him or gave the sn help over the top on almost every play. This left opportunities for either Berry/Yates to find other receivers who saw man coverage. TE Drew Deniken had a great game. The 6’4” seniorhad a few big gains on crucial downs, where he dragged defenders 5-10 yards. The warhawks should give Westfield a run for their money.

Madison’s Deniken had a great game punting as well, routinely pinning Centreville deep in their own territory.

Stone Bridge would have had to bench their starters in the first quarter in order to avoid scoring a ton of points. It was a surprise every time the Jaguars made a tackle. Falls Church still gave up fewer points than Lake Braddock so they can be proud of that!

Marshall got hurt early in the game. It might have finished 69-7 if he had played more.

Marshall got hurt on the 3rd offensive play of the game. FC best defensive player got hurt soon after. The rest of FC team just quit. Defense ran away from tackles, offense gave up. The only FC kid actually putting forth effort was the qb. He missed at least 3 TDs because his receivers gave up on their routes. At least two passes in the second half bounced out of receivers hands in the end zone. His one bad pass was picked off. It was returned for a TD because the entire FC team just watched the kid run into the end zone. Zero effort to stop him. It was the most embarrassing thing I have ever seen.

Not sure there is a history between the coaches or schools. SB kept throwing deep passes throughout the first half. FC had no interest in defending them, so it seemed a little classless, but really didn't matter. They could have run the ball and no one would have tackled them. SB subbed in the second half. That and the running clock kept the score down. They could have easily scored 100.

Had Marshall not gotten injured, he could have done some damage. It wouldn't have made a difference in the out me, but the game would have been a little closer. The play he got hurt on was about a 10 yard run where he broke a couple of tackles and made a guy or two miss, then burst into the open. Same thing he's been doing all year. He would have broken a couple of runs, but it was not to be.

If Westfield plays the way they did last night against South Lakes they will get beat by Madison. The defense looked uninspired and lethargic, the offense didn’t really get going till the second half. Coaches have their work cut out for them this coming week. Madison is pretty much a mirror image of Westfield with regard to how well coached and disciplined the Warhawks are.

Wow 3rd play of the game? After 2,500 yards! Sounds like he saw the writing on the wall and left the team to pick up the pieces. Oh well, they’re always fun to follow. Wonder if that head coach will stay there.

Falls Church only had one offensive weapon, son told me Marshall might have broken a bone in his foot. With their Demo, they aren’t Stonebridge, and even Aziz could tell you that. However, you can’t discount what FC has been able to accomplish the past several years.

Since you have Cavs Nation as your name, I assume you went to the game. I did. If that is the best WTW can do against an average SC team, they are probably in a bit of next week (yes, I have seen Freedom twice this year). And if they manage to get past Freedom, they will face either Westfield or Madison, both of whom are better than either Woodson or Freedom.

“An average SC team”. if SC is average then Hayfield is certainly below average. Both WTW and Freedom won by 10. You can’t sit here and say that Freedom is the favorite.

Nothing new Woodson has been the underdog all year!No one believed in them.
But, it doesn't matter, they believe and that's is what counts.

All year long, Woodson isn't very good, they cant beat South Lakes or SoCo, or cant beat Robinson or Braddock. Well looks who is left standing......WT Woodson.

Like it or not, Woodson is playing in the semi finals for their region.

Win or lose they have had a great year.....Give em props!!!

If Woodson is eliminated next week, they'll still have made it a round further than South County (who they beat twice) and two further than Lake Braddock.

While I’m disappointed for LBSS can’t I also be happy for Woodson in their great season? All want to win so we celebrate when we do and we show sportsmanship when we don’t. I’m proud of our LBSS team and coaches and I’m happy for the other teams too. We hammer down so hard on these players and coaches for not killing the other team and we slowly kill off the sport.

Coach Doc leaving was the best thing he could’ve done! The only reason he beat Woodson is because he still has good players at LB! I’m guessing it’s only a matter of time until WTW beats LB! It’s a good thing Van Acker came when he did because they have a very talented group of Sen19rs! I’ve seen Woodson get a 9-1 and make it to the 3rd playoff game twice before! 2004 under SoCo’s coach Gerry Pannoni and 2009 under South Lakes’ former coach who is now at Fairfax Trey Taylor! Thank you so much Van Acker for coming and knocking the Cavs back to relevancy!

Yes, Hayfield and SC are average teams. Hayfield's best opponent was SC and then Robinson (don't event think of saying Mt Vernon....). SC played a much better schedule (WF, CV, MAD, WTW, LB) but still went only 7-5. The fact that WTW and Freedom beating them by 10 points each carries very little meaning.
You have to take the quality of a team in the context of all the teams in the area, not just that team's schedule.

I think the Freedom v Woodson will be a much better game then people think, both teams are very well coached.

Woodson offense scores points and the defense is very good.

Freedom is athletic all over the field, offense and defense.

The key will be, can the Woodson defense get some stops and give the offense a chance to score. If not, it will be a long night for Woodson.

Battlefield parents are crazy. Trust me, it is a very similar situation to Lake Braddock. The coach going there will not be spared any headaches, but they are a sleeping giant to be a contender every year and it is a great opportunity for a coach to win at.

I would not be surprised to see Aziz finally leave FC and end up at Battlefield or Patriot. He'd do a great job.

Freedom vs Woodson could be a good game. Freedom will have to be discipline or they will get beat easily. Must have had at least 20 penalties in the game. They do have some athletes for sure, big kids on the O line, although big doesn't necessarily mean good. Hayfield could have very easily won that game yesterday. Hawks were in the red zone at least 4 times and came up empty, I guess the Hawks don't have a FG kicker. Freedom also had 5 turnovers I believe, cant do that against Woodson for sure. The RB #5 for Freedom is a stud and runs extremely hard. #9 on defense is a monster all over the field. Without a doubt the best defensive player in the area. WTW is a well coached team and obviously are very good. Being discipline is the key to success for Freedom otherwise WTW moves on to the next round.

Mark my words, if Haddock is forced out he will join Simmons and roll the Concorde division. Careful what you wish for CVHS boosters and parents.

The RB #5 for Freedom is a stud and runs extremely hard. #9 on defense is a monster all over the field. Without a doubt the best defensive player in the area. WTW is a well coached team and obviously are very good. Being discipline is the key to success for Freedom.

Without a doubt the best defensive player in the area?

Fake news.

He’s an unknown. Falls Church simply doesn’t play anyone in the top 10-15 teams in the area so no one sees or coaches against him. Principals and DSAs want to be able to see the proof before they hire and the only game they see is the stone bridge debacle. They’d rather take a guy who’s average agaist good competition and think he’ll do better with better talent.

Nothing necessarily wrong with Aziz, but he just hasn't ever been matched up against a good program. Yes, they finally won a playoff game, but Potomac Falls was fake, as they received a shit load of power points for their fluke forfeit victory over Broad Run. They also played without their only defender that could have kept up with Marshall. And he keeps scheduling powder puffs outside of his already ridiculous conference schedule. He has no resume, no track record. He does seem to have support of parents and school, but does ne know XZ's and O's. I mean, 69-0 against Stone Bridge doesn't exactly ring out "Hire me", right Doc?

Does he even want to leave?

You make no sense. What you meant to write is,Doc should leave, we hire Van Acker and LB will be in regional finals in 2 years.

Aziz is a GREAT coach who gets more out of less talent than any other. I have heard him talk at clinics. Knows his stuff and is classy. I thought he should have gotten the Woodson job. Now, he should take over for Doc.

Honestly I think he is better suited for CVHS or Battlefield.

How does Aziz get more out of less, he had one of the best RBs in the area.
He plays a week schedule and pads his record until the playoffs. He is not ready for a job like LB or Battlefield, you see what happened to LB when they hired a coach who not ready for the expectations of maintaining a big time winning program. They get beat 70-3 or 69-0. I have nothing against Aziz, but to prove himself, he needs to look at the mid tier programs first

If Aziz is such a great coach, go to Oakton, turn that program around.

Look what the Woodson guy did, came in from Battlefield late, hired good assistants and started building the program. He had the experience of running a big time program, you can clearly see that, he has done a really great job with a program who hasn't been winning for a decade. He has earned the respect of the coaches.

Aziz, in general, has much less talent than surrounding teams. Look at Annandale for an equivalent.

Oakton would be a good choice. I agree.

The Woodson coach got good when he hired the entire LB staff minus coach P.

This should be a great game. Madison has a legit chance to end Westfield's winning streak. Their defense is right on par with Westfield's, in fact, watching Madison play defense is like watching Westfield defense of the last few years. Westfield has a few more weapons on offense but Walker and Finney are a tough duo to contend with.

It will be interesting to see what Westfield offensive strategy is. They came out throwing against Yorktown (25 pass attempts) and then backed off to run more against South Lakes (16 pass attempts). In the end, can't imagine they won't let Kim decide the outcome. He has completed a ridiculous 35 of 41 passes the first two playoff games (85%). Madison must put pressure on him just like last time.

It could come down to who wants it more. Westfield has won 17 consecutive playoff games over the last four seasons. That's a lot of success and they may just be content with what they have accomplished. If they are not up for the game Madison will take it.

After the first meeting between these schools Simmons admitted he did not have a very good game plan. Gordon, D-coordinator from Madison is a genius, that's why the Warhawks play D so well. WF went with play action way too much in the regular season match-up, Kim was running for his life back there. If Simmons and company are smart they run primarily from the shotgun, spread the Madison defense out, and air the ball out. Everyone knows how good Morin and Woodley are receiving for WF but they've got at least 2-3 other kids who are very good as well. If WF has any chance to win they need to open up their offense, if not, Madison could very well end the streak, there are that good. They lost 2 games this year, Westfield and Stone Bridge, 2 of the best local high school programs.

FC guy comes up every year since he turned their program around. He’s probably content to keep dominating the national district and getting bounced out of the playoffs by round 2. If he does want to leave he should do it now because when FC goes to 6A they/he will get exposed.

Seriously? Westfield already beat them once and that was with a vanilla game plan. The Bulldogs have 'a chance to win' any game that they play. This isn't a gimme game, but it's insane to think Westfield has to do some razzle dazzle BS to win. The only thing WF lacks is a kick ass O-line. Every other aspect of their team is as good or better than anything else in NoVa. Only a fool would underestimate WF.

I think his point was if WF plays a conservative power running game between the tackles it's going to be a long day. WF not an underdog but only a fool would underestimate MAD.

Most coaches won’t leave the county once they’ve moved up on the pay scale. A lot of these guys being mentioned can’t afford to leave. If any FCPS coach leaves it’s going to be someone young.

Mount Vernon HC
Robinson HC
West Springfield HC
Falls Church HC
Madison HC
Herndon HC

Are all relitivly young, they could make the move.

Thank you for understanding my point, never once did I say WF needed to do any type of "razzle dazzle" offensive play calling. What WF needs to do is open it up and not be so conservative because Madison's defense is one of the best in the region. The last 2 times WF & Madison have played it's been 10-6 & 17-15, either one of those games could have been won by Madison with one big play. My point was to not let it stay close, score early and often, which means pass because WF's run game is not going to gouge Madison's D, they're too good to allow that to happen. I've been watching WF football now for the better part of 12 years, I am a fan, don't get me wrong I'm also a realist and I know that Madison was and still is the only team that could end WF's streak on their side of the bracket.

Why don't you put down mommy's computer and get your homework done junior. You would have to be a kid with that stupid remark, if not, I feel very sorry for you. Henderson would be the best fit, but the snowflake parents at LB seemed to have been empowered, so he might not be too popular.

Aziz was a finalist for the job when Doc got it, but LB isn't hiring a brown guy named Aziz.

Don't hold your breath here. LBSS has way too much self-inflicted drama. He knows he's lost his best talent and as soon as the record drops, his job is in trouble. He's looking for a more comfortable situation.

R u kidding me? Haddock loves Pres and still thinks he’s the best passing QB CVHS ever had. He was the least of Haddocks worries. And seeing what’s coming up behind him may be the reason why Haddock skips town. There is not much, cupboard is bare.

Biggest headaches are graduating but some some JR parents and the kid’s dad that came from PVI, he had an older brother but dad is PIA! But if you stroke a big enough check...who cares if you just got your pads and get out straight to Barsity.

Sophomore kid who’s injury prone but dad wears some crazy cowboy hat and boots with flannel. Loud mouth. Always bitching even when we win. You also had FR QB dad blasting FR coaches on FB with how they used kids. People are never happy. It’s FR & JV and they act like they’re kids have dozens of recruits at the games.
Why would any coach want to deal with that kind of crap? These kids haven’t even played a single down at varsity yet & you have this going on. No danaka!

So, you're admitting that you are a latent homosexual then. Good, we've got that on the record. Stop watching WF football. We don't want you there. Go creep out the moms at Chantilly. Their happy to have anyone attend their games. Even latent homos.

Don’t remember his name, but that dude in the cowboy hat was a stud at . . . South Lakes(?) back in the day.

Hear the qb had a bad sprain.

On a separate note, hearing rumblings that the SL job is going to open up soon...

Ridiculous parents & students with unrealistic expectations are a bigger danger of killing hs football than cte by driving away good coaches.

Ill never get why Stone Bridge isn't put in the same convo as Westfield. 2nd to last loss was to SB, and Stone Bridge torched a Madison team that Westfield struggled against, oh and they don't have 6 ex head coaches on their staff. Bitch about poaching players, there's no actual proof. Loudon has open enrollment sure but it's not like Madison is held accountable for their sign language program that kids can transfer to Madison for. LOCO>FFX

South Lakes job will open. It was only a interim position since
Taylor left for Fairfax

Stone Bridge coach Mickey Thompson after the Madison game, “Well, it feels like loss, doesn’t it?”

Yep, classy guy! ! !

First off this is called Fairfax Underground, you know, like referring to Fairfax County which SB and the other Loudon sholls are not part of. That's probably the answer to your question. Why are Loudon County people on here in the first place, please start your own forum.

But the main reson is SB has 1 state title since it started playing football in 2000, that same period of time WF has 5, 3 in the past 3 years. Also, I'm pretty sure that the Loudon open enrollment has restrictions in place which the coaches of SB seem to not care about. Each year for the past 5-6 years there have been plenty of high profile players at other high schools who have transferred to SB. Same cannot be said for WF, last 3 state championship teams all the players on those teams played freshman football at WF.

SB keeps trying to push the boundaries to win state titles whereas WF does it the way you're supposed to. Guess that's why the old saying "cheaters never prosper" rings true.
