And just up the road was the bar in Pickwick Square that would move the tables aside to create a dance floor. That fucking place was scary as the cops would surveil the shit out of it to bust drunk drivers. It was best to park over in the Bent Tree apartments and risk getting towed than put your vehicle in the Pickwick lot.

There was a little place called Rosemary's Thyme in the Union Mill Shopping Center that was awesome back in the late 90s early 2000's. They had an authentic clay/brick oven that they cooked everything from pizza's to steaks in. Damn they had some good food. The origninal owners sold it and the new owner made too many changes and it was never as good.

Titty bar called on top of the hill by the Hilltop Motel off Rt 50 on the right heading toward DC back in the 80s is when I remember it, dancers with pasties never ate there just for the show and a few cold beers it was similar to Dauphin's Steak house in Springfield but lower class

Pizza Supreme in Mclean.

Then, the old Taco Amigo, which was in the old stand alone building around the corner in the Safeway parking lot that used to be Holly Farms Chicken moved in after Pizza Supreme closed.

This was like in the early 90's, but on the wall as the certificate of occupancy was the old Pizza Supreme certificate from 1967, and it was now "Pizza Supreme, DBA Taco Amigo" or something like that.

Then, in the mid to late 90's, it was Taco Coyote.

Now I believe it is a Thai restaurant.

The Country Squire in Falls Church served great prime rib and Steaks. Sad to say that the grand old building was razed many years ago and now condos have replaced it. Not sure when this happened but it was A great place in the the 70’s

Honolulu. Telegraph road and the Beltway. Great Mai Tais made by owner Dave, previously at Trader Vic’s. A fun Tiki experience. Been closed a long time but still miss it.

That would have been O'Toole's, famous for big bouncers, lots of drunks, nightly brawls, loose loose women, watered down drinks, and a fairly decent prime rib, now called "So Korean BBQ", big surprise there. There was also Jake's, which is now the IHOP. Saw one of the bartenders chop her finger off, sticking it down in the disposal (smart move, Barb!). Former Shade Tree is also now yet another Korean BBQ.

This place I really do miss because I still live here, and now have to drive to Manassas to get the same low quality, greasy, burned up breakfast and bad service. Old pic found on another thread.

Steak in a Sack - across the parking lot from the Hot Shoppes & at the other end of plaza from A&P.
First gyro I ever ate.

Hot Shoppes cafeteria in the government building off of Carling Springs

Louie's Rock City- the place where Louie Dwells

Steak & Egg near Columbia Pike & Carling Springs

The old Baileys Crossroads DMV is now a Latin Restaurant...what great ambience!!

Those guys at Taco Amigo were so nice, always happy. We thought of it as our 'secret' place. A huge amount of food for like $5.

How about Angeethi in Herndon?

While not an American restaurant, it seemed to be popular.

It was for sale for well over a year. But, the signs re gone and it looks like someone has bought it.

The place was likely another casualty of Herndon's Restaurant Meals Tax. Venus Pizza and Subs in the shopping center across Elden Street has been vacant for almost 25 years. Tippy's Taco House gone almost as long. Herndon even managed to kill a Five Guys and a Fuddruckers.

Yet, look at how many new restaurants Ashburn has attracted!

Moral of the story: Taxation = Death to businesses. And, without businesses, you don't have jobs.

Stupid politicians...

It’s you that’s stupid. Meals taxes exist in Vienna, Arlington, Fairfax City, Alexandria, Manassas, Manassas Park, and of course, the District. They all have solid dining scenes.

A Korean guy had it a few months ago , the business looked dismal and I wonder if he's still there I did not see the sign up . Mr Al had a good business there for many years he sold about 12 or more back .Yorktown was originally one space then then added the next door space which meant more rent and the charm of eating on the side walk left

The place was helped with carry outs as the dirty book store was next door with lots of good female skin mags to scan while waiting for a sub, lots of Democrats stood in place for their entire lunch hour heavy breathing looking at the gay mags

The book store got a bad rap. Yes there were plenty of porn magazines. However they also had a great selection of books and you could get newspapers from all over. Yorktown Deli was good too back in the day.
