Who ever wrote about the superintendent's teacher advisory council announcement promise is telling the truth. Dr.Brabrand, was not the first choice as the preferred candidate withdrew their name so the School Board had to continue the search.
Also, at the June 8 school board meeting was the announcement and introduction of the new school board superintendent, Dr. Brabrand (who was not the 1st choice). His speech was uneventful and boilerplate, but concerning in that he refers to picking up with FCPS strategic plan, which is that awful document that promotes "caring cultures and student success," while the school systems does the complete opposite. Its also concerning to learn that he is a long time administrator of FCPS who is returning to the school system after five years in Lynchburg as a school superintendent.
While it would have been nice that he acknowledge that his predecessor was run out of town for corruption, poor management, and secretly working with the school to implement inverted priorities, and that he should promise to not do the same, we should welcome him with open mind and handshakes, but be ready to hold accountable and run out of town til we are respected and its understood the school system is for the parents and all citizens, and not the unions and special interest groups.
