The list is complete with an interactive map. Check it out here: http://www.virginiadot.org/projects/northern_virginia/northern_virginia_paving_program.asp

That's more like a political map than anything else. I won't bother commenting on the details but they aren't paving where it most needs to be done.

Apparently, no one from VDOT has ever driven on Burke Station Road, which has crumbled to the point of being a gravel road.

Guinea Road is far worse, but Burke Station still needs it too.

All of our budget goes to the extremely generous pension benefits for VDOT employees. No money for roads!

Swinks Mill Road is a MAJOR commuter route into Tysons Corner, the 10th largest Business District in the country. The road is less than 3 miles in length, but is a key route that gets a LOT of traffic usage.

This road was a disaster as far back as 2013, I had been contacting VDOT on a regulator basis about this road.

I see Swinks Mill Road is on the 2017 paving schedule. but see this message I received from VDOT back in Jul 2015! After I was told in January 2015 it was on the schedule for 2015. Needless to say it was not repaved in 2015.

"Re: Repaving of Swinks Mill Rd.

VDOT Schedule No. 271.

Thank you for your interest in Virginia’s roads and your inquiry regarding the re-paving of Swinks Mill Rd. This road has already been inspected and is currently a paving candidate for 2015 paving schedule.

Please note though, that while this road is included on an upcoming 2015 schedule, there are many factors considered when approving the schedules for paving. Factors such as current pavement rating, traffic flow, weather deterioration and of course, available funding are all factors considered.

If it does not get approved for 2015 year’s paving schedule it will remain on the schedules until such time as there is available funding, priority and approval.

Please let us know if you have additional questions or comments regarding your inquiry.

Regards,

Rob Wilson

District Pavement Manager

VDOT"

At least they respond to all serious submissions, like what the user posted above.

Also, if you go to http://www.virginiaroads.org/Mapping/#PavementConditions, you'll be able to see the conditions of all the state-regulated roads.

LifeProTip: If you get in touch with your districts supervisor, you can request that said-road in your district be added to the 2018 repaving schedule.

They did a great job repaving Popes Head Rd. 3 weeks later they dug it up to replace a drain pipe.
