Fairfax Underground's forum and associated services were unavailable this morning between 8:58:31 and 11:12:03 due to an apparent Linux kernel panic.

Late last night I increased the apache2 PHP memory_limit to 1536M to resolve a longstanding memory exhaustion problem with the 800+ page "The Mike O'Meara Show" thread. While the root cause of the kernel panic is still under investigation this PHP configuration change is the most likely culprit.

As SQL replication was halted I will be taking manual backups for the next few hours which may cause forum slowness.

Some functionality may still be broken. Please report any problems that arise in this thread or to cary@fairfaxunderground.com.

Best way to solve the problem is to just remove that thread, since it seems like that was what caused the issue.

DELETE the Mike O'Meara thread.
