Not sure she it the scapegoat on that one. It was spoiled when they did a news teaser in the middle of the game which was on tape delay. She wasn't responsible for content or what teaser to do. That's on the behind the scenes crew.

She was the final filter. It's ultimately the newsreader's decision what does and does not go out over the air. She should have seen the copy and refused to read it. And before you say, they would've fired her...she was at the top of her game in 1980. Every station in town and every major market station would have had contracts to her the next day.
