Dave Albo Is Running For Re-Election (And Want's you to forget)

That he's the guy behind the infamous Virginia "Civil Remedial Fees", AKA the $3,500 ticket.

Amazingly, he doesn't mention it at all on his site: http://www.davealbo.com

Is anybody running against him? I don't live in the district, but I'd love to give some money to his opponent just to get his self-serving ass out of office.

Albo supported large surcharges for felony and misdemeanor level driving convictions in 2007, a plan that met strong resistance from some Virginia residents......................

Gee, I can't understand why convicted felons and misdemeansor drivers shouldn't be given a free pass.

Virginians were absolutely on spot demanding these drivers' right be protected to continue destroying property and killing and injuring other motorists. It's an outrage.

There are already penalties to those offenses without adding several thousand in additional "fees."

I have no problem fining people for criminal behavior. I do have a problem with fining Virginians for criminal behavior while giving out-of-staters a free pass. The assholes from Maryland, DC, New Jersey, and New York that drive like 95 is a freaking slalom course should be paying just as much for their stupidity as any local would.

Exactly. It was *Albo* who
was giving reckless drivers a free pass....as long as they weren't from Virginia.

I believe, and I may be incorrect, that his law office specialized in driving infractions. Thereby a particular individual may want to retain his services to fight a $3,500 ticket. If my recollection is right, the conflict of interest was so blatant I'm surprised it passed initially.

He also has a "D" rating on his NRA Report Card.

It was also Albo who had the law firm specializing in drunk driving cases that stood to prosper as a result of his legislation. He was a crook and total piece of shit.

If I was going to vote purely on haircut alone, they both have great politician cuts and it would be a tough decision.

Yep. Instead, we should all pay more taxes. And vote D across the board... for even more taxes.

Does anyone know what Werkheiser stands for - I just saw his first commercial on USA Network at 11:43 tonight and it just talks about why we shouldn't like Dave Albo. I am interested in finding out what each candidate has to offer but I am tired of ads like the Deeds ads that appear every 8 minutes from 11 PM to 6 AM on dozens of channels and do nothing but denegrate McDonnell. It would be nice if someone would actually do an ad that says what THEY are for.

I'm curious about Werkheiser too. When a politician has nothing but a critique of his opponent, it doesn't speak well about his own capabilities.

I'm also not sure about the fact that he raised more $$ than Albo. Wouldn't it mean he has more 'favors' to return, if elected?

That would mean that they would actually need to be FOR something other than getting elected. With Bush out of office, Democrats are having a hard time coming up with a message. After all, the only thing they've run on since 2005 is Bush sucks.

Depends on who gave him the money. If individuals did..then he is bought and sold by his constituents.

I don't know about Dave Albo, but I do know about Greg Werkheiser and I certainly hope that someone is seriously keeping track of his campaign expenses. He has a nasty habit of supplementing his income by claiming false expenses. He has a history of "shopping" on the expense account of former pro bono clients for his old law firm. If there's a third option, you might want to take it. Maybe at least they won't directly steal from you.

Concern troll much?

It's pretty low to anonymously post totally unsubstantiated claims like this on a website. The state has pretty stringent reporting requirements, so you can see everything Werkheiser and Albo and everyone's spending money on. The Virginia Public Access Project has them all posted with reviews at http://www.vpap.org/ .

Personally, I'm more concerned about the fact that Albo's campaign is almost completely funded by insurance companies and the alcohol, tobacco, and payday lender lobby. How do I know? Because I bothered to look it up at VPAP.

Actually that is incorrect. It was Governor Kaine that modified the Bill and made it apply to Virginia residents only.

True. It was in the governor's suggested new wording on 3/27/07

However, the house and senate were all too happy to vote for the new wording.

So, Werkheiser lost yet again, despite all the $$ he was able to raise. I guess it sends a clear message that you have to have a message :)
