Hemlock Overlook Regional Park Wildlife

Has anyone ever seen a bear in any of the area parks? I'm thinking of taking my young son to Hemlock Overlook regional park this weekend, and was wondering how likely it is for him to be eaten.

Is it legal to open carry a pistol in VA state / regional parks?

Use a grenade, or bear mace.

Pretty unlikely down this way. If you want your kid to get eaten you'll have to take him up to the Shenandoah, and even there you'll be lucky to find one.

Ummm....Are you seriously worried about bears? I'd be more worried about the ticks.

Well hemlock is typically overrun w/ kids this time of year. Its summer camp season, so no wildlife will be anywhere near there.

I've walked the Bull run trail many times which is right near there and I've seen a few deer an I think 1 black snake (harmless) and that's it.

Wasn't there recently some bear sightings in Vienna?

I'd be more worried about the rednecks and hillbillies.

Figures that Frank R. would get it wrong.
