Replace the Metro Board with Four Distrist Compact to Run Metro

Let's face it. The Metro Board is and continues to be a complete failure. Government money for the system goes to... who knows...

It's time to replace the Metro Board with a typical subway system governing body, a compact.

The Metro controlling body would be made up of representatives from VA, MD, DC and a Metro Police Authority.

Dude, the current Metro Board of Directors is composed of eight voting and eight alternate directors. Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and the federal government each appoint two voting and two alternate directors.

If you've ever tried to split a restaurant check four ways, you know exactly why the Metro Board is so messed up.

Everyone kicks in what they think they owe, forgetting things like drinks, tax and tip (and God help you if you're a normal 20% tipper and someone else comes from a culture where 15% is the max).

Everyone's afraid they'll accidentally put in too much, so you count the cash everyone's kicked in for a $160 check and surprise, surprise, you've got $130 in the pot. Eventually, after two or more rounds of grumbling, back of the napkin scribbling and calculator button pushing (and maybe even a review of the menu prices), you've got maybe $175 in the pot, which means either a) you kick in another 15 bucks to make up the tip or b) you just say fuck it, and leave your server with a slightly less than 10% tip.

Who normally tips 20%? The standard tip is still 15%, some say it's now 18% but who sets the rate? The waiters? Of course they want 20% which would be fine for outstanding service but that doesn't exist in most FFX restaurants. When you see on the check the various percentages you don't have to follow their suggestions. Also, those amounts include the tax. I hope you don't tip the tax.
