Saratoga ES: Police Activity

I love on Edinburgh St near the school. The past two days I've seen police and county school security on site. They are there now. Is there anything in the neighborhood I should be concerned about or is the school a shit hole?

I'll ask my son and see what he knows. I saw the authorities in there yesterday when dropping off snacks.

is this another one of those "concerned" house wife threads? no offense but that is definitely a buzz word on here.

This school was good under the leadership of Principal Conklin. The new valley girl doesn't seem to have the same approach unfortunately.

William Robert Moreno was spotted lurking about and sitting on a sidewalk. When confronted he claimed he had every right to sit there.

WRONG.

Conklin let the school go in her last several years there. Principal Miller has walked into a situation that has a lot to clean up, and in one year, she's done a good job with the school climate and community communication.

Saratoga has a long way to go. Behavior, personal responsibility, and general social skills of the student body are atrocious. I would argue that student academic success is entirely dependent on whether or not students are ready to learn behaviorally. Unfortunately, there are a lot of older teachers who are tired and have "given up" trying to make a difference, and then there are brand new teachers who have no real role models to lean on and are floundering.

If I were Miller, I would encourage many teachers to retire, recruit aggressively, and focus very strongly on teaching responsibility and social skills- and that goes for the teachers too. The instant children start falling behind academically or have behavior issues, the teachers need to be proactive, notifying parents and helping them with ideas to help their children succeed.

Wouldn't surprise me if you are her. Similar writing style. Conklin was a more effective leader, and teachers I've known for years agree.
