I assume that means Internal Affairs. The "internal" investigation division of complaints. These IA complaints usually result in some paperwork filing and that's about it.

It's like you being the judge at your own sentencing. All show for the public.

Well shit, if he was a better investigator he would have known something was up with his wife and her job and could have helped her out before she felt that suicide was her only out...
