A great skin flick titled "Schlongzilla" was filmed in my bedroom in the 70s. I still have the mustache.
White Reindeer takes place in Tysons/Vienna. Used to be on Netflix. About a Long and Foster agent whose husband dies suddenly. She starts to investigate his search history after a tip off and it follows a journey to Crystal City Lounge, Maryland, Strippers, coke and the swingers scene. Check it out--not amazing, but worth the watch.

The movie Breach (2007) about the FBI double agent Robert Hanssen was partially filmed in Fairfax County.

When they were filming I had a co-worker who lived in Vienna right near Hanssen's house. She came into work one spring day and said the house was covered in fake snow for a winter scene.
-Remember the Titans (of course)
-Die Hard II was supposed to be Dulles. The spell was broke on that in the first couple of minutes when McClane makes a call on a Pacific Bell pay phone
-Many other films have scenes at Dulles Airport (Airport '79, 3 Days in May, etc)
-Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has a scene at Udvar-Hazy Center in Fairfax
-National Treasure: Book of Secrets has a scene at Mount Vernon
-The opening shot in No Way Out is a suburban house in NOVA (Fairfax?, Fall Church?)
-In Logan's Run they cross the Potomac which would put them in or near Fairfax...and with that stretch, I'm out.

Remember the Titans. Coach Yost's daughter went to TJ, She was a cheerleader and a Homecoming Queen. She died before the movie came out and they never mentioned it.

Wasn't there a scene in some movie filmed out in front of the former Heart and Hand restaurant located in Clifton? Give me a moment and I'm sure it will come to me.

It has now come back to me. The opening scene from the movie, Broadcast News, starring William Hurt was filmed in front of the Heart and Hand.

The DVD special features, which include documents of Donnie Darko being arrested for arson (as mentioned in the movie) are labeled County of Fairfax, Virginia.

The Mission Impossible HQ is supposedly buried under a USPS office which - I think - is the one on Sunset Hills Rd in Reston

The problem is that most movies that are set in Fairfax County are actually filmed elsewhere. This is the case of some of those most prominent -
Arlington Road (supposed to be Reston but was filmed in Houston)
Remember the titans (Georgia)
Donnie Darko is actually shot in California but is in fact supposed to be in Fairfax County (although a fictional town). The writer/director grew up in Midlothian and cites stories of the bunnyman as part inspiration for that (character?)
Another example is Evan Almighty. Theoretically, it takes place in a Virginia suburb of DC but was actually mostly shot near Charlottesville in Crozet.
The movie Lawless is supposed to be Fairfax County too. Funny to think that a "true" story about bootlegging didn't actually happen in the moonshine mountains but around here.
The other examples are all the movies on Mount Vernon Highway and of course anything with Mount Vernon itself (Gotta be some George Washington movies out there).

As you could clearly tell from the PacTel telephones. As Stoney says many films supposedly set in NoVa are actually filmed elsewhere. They are also usually written by people from other areas who have no idea about NoVa jargon and geography.

Ooops, correction....Breach was shot in "Fairway County, Virginia"
Attachments:
LoL nice .. they fucked up the spelling. They actually filmed in the exact location of the real arrest in Vienna, which is on the back side of Westwood Country Club on Fairway Drive.

Wasn't the movie Lawless to have taken place in SW Virginia, and not Fairfax?
Wasn't it based off a true story?
Isn't the author of the book that the movie was based on from Mt Vernon area, went to Mt V high in the 90's, and the story is based on his family's past as bootleggers in SW Va in the 1920's?
