My 2 cents is its a pretty good organization up until middle school. You volunteer and gain access to seeing your kid in classes in schools and you get to know admin. Middle school you really get no 'juice' for the squeeze. You dont gain any access to the kids in school and are pretty much invisible to teachers.

Seems like those that cling on to PTA involvement are the hardcore mom's desperate for significance...
