I was just leaving my brother's house in North Springfield about an hour ago and saw about 20 motorcycle cops plus a big bus that said "mobile command unit" coming down Braddock towards Backlick. Don't know what's going on.
Fairfax County could cut the police budget by 90%,drop the helicopter and robot and have two cops with some balls walk into the house and call the coroner. No need to shut down the road for hours.

The last time I checked Sterling was located in Loudoun County, not Fairfax.
This morning around 10:24 a.m. officers were called to a residence in the 7000 block of Leewood Forest Drive for a domestic violence call for service. Upon arrival, they located an adult woman outside the residence in a panicked state. She explained to officers that her spouse was upset and had threatened her by pointing a handgun at her. As she was exiting the residence, the victim heard sounds of what appeared to be gunshots coming from the residence.

Officers took immediate action and secured a perimeter around the residence to isolate and contain the threat from the community. Residents were advised to stay in their homes and a portion of Backlick Road was blocked while the incident took place.
Additional resources responded as the initial indication of the event dictated a possible barricade. A warrant for brandishing a firearm was secured after consulting with the Fairfax County Magistrate’s Office for what had allegedly transpired inside the residence between victim and her husband.
After over two hours of repeated attempts to make contact with the man inside the home, officers from the Special Operations Division utilized an expandable tool to get a better observation point through the front door of the residence which was partially open. Officers were able to see the deceased 67 year-old man inside the home lying on the floor.
The woman did not sustain any physical injuries during the incident.
We would like to thank the community for their patience during the incident.
Basically, some elderly nutcase threatened his wife and Fairfax County responded by sending in the riot squad. While I understand the need to keep citizens safe, laying siege to a neighborhood and blocking a major traffic artery on Sunday morning was overkill. Not only did this inconvenience residents in the area, think of the disruptions at the numerous houses of worship in the vicinity.
Or perhaps Fairfax County police simply wanted to demonstrate what might happen if citizens did something really dangerous, like exercise their First Amendment right to petition the government for the redress of grievances.

I agree that FCPD usually way over reacts by blocking every road with in miles of an incident. Set up a reasonable perimeter around the immediate area.
A minor fender bender at an intersection gets the FCPD response of close off the entire intersection by putting out cones so the intersection can no longer be used. Then FCPD stands around chatting or sitting in their cars on a lunch break while traffic is backed up for miles. Cars start doing U-turns around the area and more accidents happen from confused frustrated drivers.
Whatever happened to directing traffic safely around an incident at the intersection.
FCPD and FCFP need to have a traffic control commander for incidents. He monitors google maps to see where traffic is clogged and re-routes it. Maybe some of the highway LCD signs and some tweets to inform citizens as to which roads are closed.
That said, I do appreciate how FCPD keeps the county safe.

We should build a wall between Loudoun and Fairfax counties and have Loudoun pay for it.
