Dear Professors,
Thank you for allowing me extra time to complete work in March when I was in jail for a week for doing nothing wrong.
It's hard for even me to believe, but it just happened again. May I be excused from work until I resolve this incident that put me in jail for a week again.
Innocent people should not be treated this way.

Just because you we perhaps held for something you didn't do, that does not mean you are innocent. That just means that something of which you are indeed guilty has not caught up with you - yet.
And your submitted work was unsatisfactory. I would think that with all of that free time with which to prepare your thoughts, the work would have been better. Your essay "The Joys of Jailhouse Buttsex" was lacking and poorly written. Like your cell mate, I must give you an F.
