The illegal Julio immigrunts, because they do not and can not legally pay their income taxes, are nationally at the rate of no more than $4 an hour or less. Start negotiating at $2.50 to $3 an hour, yet, do not go above the standard rate of $4/hr.
Everybody knows this! They are to suffer the consequences of their illegal status and that is just tough boobies for them. If they don't like it or the offer made, then they can just go back to South of the Border an work the standard for less than $2/hr.!!!

As a local contractor who hires many day laborers I can tell you it doesn't matter what you pay them. Promise up to $25 an hour to get them motivated. Then murder them at the end of the job to avoid paying them. FCPD will get a tip with the location where you dumped the bodies.

Here in Philly I get crap work from the "Americans" at $20-$25 per hour. I get about 4 to 5 hours of work per day that is slow and sloppy out of an 8 hour day. I am a contractor that goes by the book but my friend who gets the illegals always finishes his jobs weeks in advance, better, faster and I know he pays $11 per hour per guy. I now fired all the Americans and moved into another industry. I only had about 10 workers but now that is 10 less Americans working. Just putting in my 2 cents. (Here is why I gave up, some of my guys did not show up for work and did not call out, left me hanging at a live site, I had 1 week to finish hanging and finishing drywall. Had to call my friend in to bail me out. His illegals finished in 2.5 days. I cannot compete with that!)

Mainline, you are correct.
It is hard to compete with paying $11 cash per hour to illegals who don't need obamacare/Social security/taxes taken out.
I totally understand your reasoning for getting out of the business. I have seen it with my own eyes as my father was a tradesman himself. He is retired now, but with the welfare benefits offered now, able bodied men 18-30 would rather go work in an air conditioned office with their college degree and make twice as much money for half the work- or sit on welfare and not work at all. Men aren't out here much doing an honest days HARD PHYSICAL work for an honest day's pay. My father says thats why there are so many "metrosexuals" now as they have gone soft not being willing to swing a hammer all day, and the illegals lap this up and will gladly do the work for cheap (Macho men).
It's funny he told his daughter (my sister, we were all in the kitchen having dinner one night) he'd rather she marry a LEGAL Hispanic working construction than a white guy on welfare or doing "computer stuff"- and we're white!!! He said he wants a "Real man" for her.
I get what he is saying.

How many gringos do you typically see in front of a 7-11? None. Because gringos are lazy and do not want those jobs.
Taxes are an employer's responsibility. Before you begin hiring people off the street, you should have an Employer ID from the IRS, you should prepare and file an I-9 for each worker you hire, and you should withhold and remit income and payroll taxes from the pay of each and every employee. If you do not accomplish these things, it is YOU that is the criminal.

1. If you ask at a day laborer site for a tile worker, you will probably get people with that experience coming to your car.
2. Many day laborers have skills from their original country. They may need the tools and materials that you provide. Pay by the job by negotiating after they look at it.
3. If you call a Local Company to have the work done, chances are an Hispanic male will do the work anyway.

Overpay by the job for the landscape work you don't want to do, like weeding or brush clearing. Anything requiring skill? Good luck.

Don't pay them anything, just give them a free ride to Mexico after they do the work and maybe some Corona Lites if they do a good job.
