Not to mention the clear pass interference on Frimpong on the game-winning TD catch. Fortunately, Frimpong was able to recover and make the catch. Perhaps the ref would have thrown the flag if it had gone incomplete but it didn't look like they were going to throw it. Neutral site game next time please.

Healthy Madison team beat the Stone Bridge team that pounded on Westfield... Interesting to see what Madison could've been if they stayed healthy

That picture is inconclusive. The rule determines the touchdown not based on the knee down but where the ball is when the knee is down - you can't tell where the football is from this angle.

I'm not saying the call was right, but there would have been a ref standing on the goal line in perfect position to make the call.

what is known, the running back is not 8 feet tall, and those big shoes in the picture are of #97 who would have Dropped the Statue of Liberty for a 5 yard loss if he wasn't held like Michael Jackson's Monkey on the Play! it's OK, Westfield has proven they can overcome adversity up to and including 8 foot running backs. Winner Winner!

I know the rule. Which is why I said he probably should have been down by contact. Unless he is about 8' tall like another poster said, he is bout 6 feet away from the goal line and only has about 4' in body length from his knee to his shoulder-short of the goal line. A ref was on the goal line but it was a bang-bang play and the ref is human. But it was not something that should have been missed.

Unfortunately the official making the call was the same one who watched #97 almost get his jersey ripped off by the left tackle.

Fortunately it didn't cost Westfield the game, that's all that mattered......

I cannot believe Westfield still whines even after they were handed the State title Again in 2016! #4 pushed off with both hands to get open and catch that OT fade catch. He did the same thing on a couple of the come back routes too. Virtually Every fade route for all the highlight videos demonstrate exactly the same foul. But, Westfield is never called on it.

Those rings are evidence of what their players have been taught, it's not cheating unless you get caught. And they are taught well in that regard! Go ahead, enjoy your spoils. Kharma has a way of catching up. So, the better things seem now, the worse things will be to balance things out. Have fun living your lives looking over your shoulders! Or better yet, just go on with believing you didn't get caught and just let things happen to you. Either way we won't know when it'll happen but remember the highs in life are always balanced out equally by your lows! Every time you get something you didn't deserve, you'll lose something that you did. Your heartbreak will equall your triumphant joy! Buuuuwwwwwaaaaaahhhhhaaaaahhhhhaaaaa!

OMG. I can't believe you went there. #4 Perry literally ran into #4 Frimpong cutting off his route and knocking him backwards. It was blatant and uncalled defensive pass interference. There was absolutely no push off. But if you want to believe that go ahead.

Nice of you wish evil and bad luck on high school football players. I can assure if Westfield has lost similiar sentiments would not have come your way.

Anyway, part of my whining is looking out for the Northern Region - not just Westfield. Northern Region teams should not have to play away games in Hampton where the officials are intimidated by the home crowd. State Championship games should be played at legit neutral sites.

The city of Centreville has done a lot to keep Northern Region Football alive. There have been 6 State Champion Teams from the city in the last 16 years. Far more than any other specific area.

What does everyone think about self-professed legendary Coach Mickey Thompson now? In case you missed it, Stone Bridge was up 13-0 in the 2nd Quarter and absolutely controlling every facet of the game. Highland Springs couldn't do anything right, and were completely demoralized. Ready to pack it in, except...

4th and 7 from his own 32 yard line. Instead of punting, arrogant bastard calls a regular ol running play up the middle and gains... one yard.

Springers were awakened, and scored three plays later to make it 13-7.

And the rest, as they say, is history. Yes, they still had many chances to win, and probably outplayed them, but to me that makes it even worse, as he had them, but let em off the hook.

Yes, he has guided them to 7 Regional Titles, but he is now 1-6 in the state finals.

AND, he actively recruits! Just ask Bradley Block, he of Briar Woods last year.

Well, that was the play they ran in 3OT last year that failed wasn't it?

Anyway, from the post-game comments I heard, Oscar Smith had called their last timeout before the 3rd and 12 play and then were either slow and/or a little unorganized getting that last play call in on 4th down. I got the impression that might not have been the play they really wanted to run or perhaps even Mitchell just called it himself. The way it was they barely beat the 25 second clock.

Better idea might have been not to fumble the ball on 1st and 2nd downs.

Personally, I think that should have been a tripping call because OS lost the benefit of the doubt earlier in the game. Go back and look at the big pass play downfield to WFD #32. WFD #17 was rolling out and his first look was WFD #2 crossing the field right in front of him. OS #7 runs up on WFD #2 and puts him on the ground by running into his legs. #17 then finds #32 downfield at the last second.

When #2 got taken down on the interception that was second time he was tripped "accidentally." Sorry, you only get one free pass.

Yep, you got it right, funny, cause you're the idiot that trolled this thread all year proclaiming Westfield's greatness. I guess it was a juvenile attempt to stir emotion from Westfield haters, maybe their fans, or whatever. But it turned out that you had it spot on.
