When did Model UN club become a Muslim thing?

My daughter has been doing Model UN for a while. It seems to me that 75% the participants are Muslims. She did a competition last year where one of the committees were for Arabic speakers only. I've never seen a Spanish only committee. How can they limit their participation like that? The top prizes are given by Muslim judges to Muslim participants with the rest of the kids looking on in amazement.
