Ruby Tuesday in Fairfax City to close this month
Date: December 03, 2015 12:50AM

Ruby Tuesday in Fairfax City is going to close this month (December, 2015).

This store was performing just fine, since it has plenty of traffic from its location and the local bus stop. However, when the H&R Block store next door closed early this year, it was in a bad spot, and the office supply store closing probably also contributed to its demise. A restaurant chain among several abandoned stores cannot survive on its own, and it's so sad.

The employees had known that it was going to close up to 6 months ago, but the actual closing date early next year (2016) has now been moved up to this month (during the holidays), which sucks.

I love eating at Ruby Tuesday but so many of their stores have closed in recent years, like the stupid and idiotic Marlin & Ray in the Jermantown section of Fairfax.

I hope the Chantilly store survives. I like their salad bar.

Its last day is December 11. Staples has also closed along with Hudson Trail. Getting ready for squeezing as much crap into an awkward space as possible. Advance Auto is relocating across from Patriot Harley.

I'm a fan of stopping in an Americsn chain like Applebee's, Chilis, TGIFridays, and Ruby Tuesdays a few times a year. They are all pretty similar. That Ruby Tuesdays I've gone to twice. It's not particularly nice. Their mashed potatoes were probably some of the worst I've seen. They must make them in the morning or previous day and keep under a heat lamp or something. Gross.

That shopping center like most of Fairfax is crammed and weirdly designed. It's less sprawling then the Shít show around Jermantown / 50 / 29 though. Weird they are going to stuff another set of homes, generic grocery store, and a couple shitty chain stores like everywhere else. Oh well.

All of those "Strip Mall Style" restaurants have the same style of food. Smothered in a gravy type sauce, or melted cheese ,and a side of potatoes that are fried, baked, or mashed.

Follow the Sysco truck to your next dining experience.

Where do you think Sysco's meats come from?

Factory farms/meat packers -

The best quality beef/pork/poultry comes from family farms that raise the animals free of chemicals and growth drugs. I have a farmer in Pennsylvania that provides Angus beef for my family, and the price is actually lower than grocery store prices.

LOL! Sysco will deliver meat of virtually any grade. Their genius after all is their distribution system. You're just too stupid to understand how all this works.

A personal farmer, huh? What a colossal dumbfuck you are!!!

Food free of chemicals is very important. I will eat what I want, and you eat what you want.

That is the beauty of living in this country - We are free to choose.

When you are being eaten alive by cancer you will understand.

People are free to cower and be afraid of whatever they want. But the fact that Sysco delivered a particular piece of meat does not cause any increase in cancer risks. You are stupid.

BS check, please. Post some price comparisons if you wish.

These small farms cannot afford to sell at the same prices at grocery stores that purchase from the mass producers.

Even Springfield Butcher and The Meat House sell at prices lower than the independent farms.

Sysco has been known to use unrefrigerated food sheds to store chicken, pork, beef, bacon, and milk for hours at temperatures into the 80s.

The man buys the beef in PA for a reason, and I see no prices from either of you. Maybe it is cheaper - Maybe not

I used to work at Ruby's back in the day at Fair Oaks Mall, so I have a soft spot for that joint. That said, I live near the Fairfax Circle Ruby's and have been there 2 or 3 times in the past couple of years and all I have to say is that place is a fucking shithole...its really gone downhill over the years. The salad bar and food is horrible. If you like salad, go to Jason's Deli. My wife, who is not a food snob, said she's done with Ruby's and will not go back after our last couple of trips. As far as I'm concerned, good riddance to all those shitty places in that dumpy shopping plaza.

Does anyone know what new retail will be in the new plaza? One of the links showed a Harris Teeter, but I'm guessing that's not accurate since they're opening one in Dunn Loring soon. There's already a Mom's and Safeway nearby as well...so I'm guessing either Giant, Whole Foods, or Fresh Market?

It's going to be Condos, the Plaza is history except for the Dunkin Donuts. Every other retail establishment is going to demolished.

Re: Ruby Tuesday in Fairfax City to close this month

That corner plaza is a horrible retail location. It's very difficult to get there from any road except from westbound Rte. 50. And, some idiot put curbs to block access to the restaurant.

This whole site between 29, 50, and Blake Lane should never have been retail. The elevations are a disaster. I'm glad it's being changed to residential as long as the roads are redesigned. Advance Auto Parts and that disgusting restaurant are practically underground there, I'm surprised cars haven't flown off Rte. 29 and crashed into the building.

This whole city is a mess--just a couple miles south on Pickett Road we have an even more stupid and confusing layout at Fair City Mall.

Those shopping centers made perfect sense at the time they were developed, which IIRC was mid to late 1960s. You have the intersection of two major highways, very little retail development to the east or north for several miles and you are walking distance from apartments. At the time they were considered a significant improvement over the smaller strip malls.
