Yes, you are correct. I guess whomever made up the program was a bit lost. Potomac Woodbridge just added another really good team to the mix. Never been a Bash with anything close to the quality they have this year.

So what is the deal with St. Albans? On the surface they would seem to be a middle-of-the-road team but they won handily against a highly touted VA team. Is this going to be their tournament to win?

St Albans is a very good team. We will find out tonight, as the winner of the WF vs St A's game, or West Springfield, will win the tournament IMO.

Potomac is very athletic, but undisciplined and, if last night is any indication, a bad shooting team. St A's had something to do with that because of their defense and athleticism. But I can see how Potomac can run over weaker/smaller teams. As a side note, the Potomac scorekeeper told me "we're 8-0, but we haven't played anybody yet". Yes, they beat Battlefield in OT, but BF is vulnerable.

Can they become the first school in 6A North to win both the football and basketball state championship? Amazing how much talent that school has although they don't have a high enrollment. Scanlon is definetly something special.

Not a high enrollment? Westfield is the third largest school in the state.

They are the FOURTH largest school in FCPS. If one actually bothers to look it up. Even so they are not enrollment challenged.

The school itself is probably the biggest in the state but enrollment wise they are probably 3rd in the Concorde district. Idk what you mean by third largest in the state. Here are the enrollment numbers:

Lake Braddock 2772
Chantilly 2693
Robinson 2653
Westfield 2608
Centreville 2472
West Potomac 2466
Woodson 2446
South Lakes 2436
Fairfax 2414
Oakton 2412
Herndon 2264
West Springfield 2218
South County 2186
Annandale 2158
Madison 2123
McLean 2089
Marshall 2036
Hayfield 1975
Stuart 1973
Mount Vernon 1972
Langley 1967

By not having a high enrollment I meant that it doesn't have as much as a few other 6A schools and that the school doesn't have nearly the amount of the students that it was built to have. It's supposed the hold 600 more students than it has now. Sorry I wasn't clear enough.

Strictly off records, which can be deceiving against varying levels of competition, here are some of the top performing teams through the first half of the season. I know programs like Herndon, South Lakes, Woodson, will have a lot to say about this down the stretch.

5A
Wakefield 11-0
Tuscarora 11-1
Potomac 10-1
Stone Bridge 6-2
Potomac Falls 8-1
Marshall 8-1

6A
Westfield 7-2
Battlefield 8-2
Lake Braddock 8-1
Madison 8-1
West Springfield 7-1

Champe is looking good. Now they have a true point guard in Fragala who can control the game and dish it or kill you with his jump shot. When his shot is on it's lights out. They have a forward named Deng who puts up some big scoring and rebounding numbers as well.

C'mon, Champe sports are a joke, but they have winning records because the competition is so God-awful.

I have never in my life seen a more counterfeit football team in my life - they had the easiest schedule possible, and got waxed when they played a good team.

Same for the hoops - will get smacked around by decent teams all day long.

Because football is a sport where players try to advance an oblong ball by either running or passing until they reach an area of the field known as an endzone, at which point they score a touchdown.

Basketball, on the other hand, is a sport where players can dribble (bounce up and down) or pass a round ball and attempt to make it go throw a round hoop slighly bigger than the ball more times than the opposing players, or "team."

^ They took West Springfield to the wire - they seem to play down to the competition like against TCW.

Multiple guys have led them in scoring this season according to the post website so clearly they have a mix of guys who can score the basketball.

South Co seems to always be a .500 team

just like football it really all depends on what athletes are coming threw the program at that moment in time. if you have a handful of good players you can be a .500 team. but if you have one or two superstar players that will push into contender status. bb only has 5 playing at a time. most teams don't have a superstar calibar player in public school every single year.

Too many pudding pops Dr. Cosby

With all of the delays and back-to-backs I think teams like West Pot, South County, TC, and SL will have the advantage because of them not having a "Go-To" guy - a lot of depth.

Westfield's dynamic duo is battle tested so I wouldn't be worried about them if I was a Bulldogs fan

Westfield just beat Herndon by 40 points just a few weeks after beating them by just 4. Clearly the best team in NoVa. Could make history if they win the Basketball title the same year they won the football title.

That score did catch my eye. Interesting for sure. It would be unprecedented if Westfield could pull that off.

Unless they play a good team the way they played Herndon go sin by 4.

I think that Herndon will pull a first round upset in regions. Their track like pace is very different from every other team in the area. My patriot district picks are West Springfield, SOCO, TC, mount Vernon.

6 Woodson over 3 TCW
1 WS over 8 Annandale
2 West Potomac over 7 Soco
4 LB over 5 MV

TCW #13 with a pretty epic tantrum at the end.

Wow, lol. Is it true students are told not to cheer against TC because their parents are "sensitive?"

TC imploded at the end of the game.

WTW was 25-27 from the line.

TC nigger parents and players I'm sure are saying it was the racist refs.

well, I can't claim to be that prescient. It was actually an easy call. Don't niggers always do this when they don't win and whites are involved?

Lol 1 of 4; I'm guessing that doesn't bode well for your Hornets.

Do you know if that is the order of the bracket? Battlefield, West Po, Westfield, and Langley are #1 seeds.

1st 4 matchups are the left side of the bracket, next 4 are the right side, in order

lower seeds are on the road

I don't think the Woodson pick is unreasonable. Not much of a resume for Battlefield. Beat Hayfield by 2, Mount Vernon by 19 (Woodson split I believe?), two wins over Osbourn. Did take Potomac to OT.

And that conference is so weak it's hard to tell really how good they are. And IIRC, Woodson has played Battlefield in the region pretty regularly, so not a blind matchup.

WTW has beaten Battlefield the past 3 years in the region or state tourneys.

They also scrimmaged this year.

Should be a good matchup. Go Cavs

Woodson lost by 40 to Battlefield in that scrimmage

You're really going out on a limb there.

Finals I have seen so far:
Battlefield over Woodson
Chantilly over WL
Robinson over SL
WP over Patriot
Westfield over Hayfield
SJ over LB
WS over Osbourn
Herndon upsets Langley

I guess that's all. That's one four seed and one three seed.

Concorde Conference 5 = 4-0
Patriot Conference 7 = 2-2
Cardinal Conference 8 = 2-2
Liberty Conference 6 = 0-4

How did Francis only score 6 for Westfld?
