I heard the chopper and I turned on the scanner, it sounded like a robbery, they were talking about pinging a phone too.

I'm between the heliport and I-66 so I hear them all the time too but
this one was hovering. East on Lee Jackson as far as I could tell.
The sirens stopped when the chopper came in. Robbery with a footchase?

Sorry you can't put two and two together. You appear to be afraid because you heard a gunshot. That's a rational response. But you can't have it both ways. If any asshole is allowed to carry a gun pretty much anywhere at any time, then you're going to hear lots of gunshots. I'm sure the asshole with the gun feels empowered, but you're going to be afraid. It's the American way.
