If you think only black people like fried chicken you're on crack. I'm whiter than wonder bread and fried chicken is my favorite food. KFC is decent obviously, church's chicken is pretty good as well. If you want something a littler different you can try bonchon chicken (Asian fried chicken) that stuff is really good

Mikey life lover - Hey, ya know. I figure it's like a yahoo board and just maybe that 10% of the answers here would be useful. Maybe I was wrong.

So Mikey. Do you ever give out useful info or just useless dribble?

Any particular style of fried chicken? My current favorite is is Bonchon and there locations in Centerville, Sterling, and Herndon.

The soy garlic is great...spicy is super hot, but worth getting a piece or two just to try. Go for the wings and drumsticks over the strips. If you want a little heat order the kimchi coleslaw as a side.

The only downside is that this is not a spur of the moment meal...they need 30 minutes for each order, but it is worth it. Both carryout and eat-in are available.

Hey What? I am looking for some small neighborhood type diner that may serve Fried Chicken. I just think there is enough rooted history in this area on restaurants, most are franchises or "just here today and gone tomorrow like places".

Not places like Church's or KFC.

This area has NO ROOTS like Chicago, Boston, St.Louis, or Jersey.

Hit up the Bonchon in Herndon.

Pollo Campero has pretty good fried chicken, it's friend not charcoal chicken like the other Spanish chicken places. There is one in Herndon.

Here is some good info, eat grilled chicken, it is healthier for you than fried chicken

I have lived in western Fx Cty a good part of my life and, unfortunately, there is no "hole in the wall" I know of with great fried chicken.

I can't stand KFC. The best I know of is Popeye's. No Church's and no Bo Jangles. I like the spicy Popeye's.

Get to Holly Farms and order a 4 piece jumbo. It comes with fried potato wedges, and a biscuit.

Roy Rogers. Still the best fried chicken around. And worth the trip to Leesburg or Manassas Park.

Roy Rogers uses the old Pappy Parker recipe. Great chicken.

I remember that Wendy's sold fried chicken for a few years in the 90s, and it was good.

I'll tell you what is awful was that time when KFC was selling "skinless" chicken. Gag me.

Anyway, I'll agree with one of the above posters and go with Popeyes as the best local fried chicken.

(Just for reference, I, too, am as white-bread as you can get; I can trace my ancestors on my Mom's side to Virginia to 1634; my Dad's side came down from the French in Ohio/Pennsylvania prior to the French/Indian Wars.)

KFC is the best. They still fry it in negro bath water, just like Colonel Sanders did back during the Civil War.

The food critic from the Post, Tom Sietsma or however you spell it, thinks Popeyes is fantastic. I think it depends a lot on when the stuff comes out of the fryer. Later in the evening I've gotten some pretty dry chicken from time to time.

Honestly if you're looking for really incredible chicken you're probably looking at spending top dollar at a very nice restaurant. You get what you pay for.

But for under $10 getting a four piece and fries and a biscuit from Popeyes--I've eaten a whole lot of fried chicken in my life, and you can't beat that deal with a stick.

I will say, though, to never, ever, ever eat at the KFC in the Union Mill shopping center over off of 29 in Clifton. Good night, I've never seen a more dirty and gross place.

I should have thought of this earlier. Why not Amphora in Herndon? They may actually serve good fried chicken. Popeye's, KFC, Church's are all sh-t holes to me.

I posed the question and I don't mind spending top dollar. Quality over quantity anyday.

This area is also not a corrupt, crime ridden shithole like those places you mentioned...

OK, I'll bite.

I just ordered both the regular and the hot Chicken Crack mix. Let's see how it rolls.....

I've always used Autrey's at home and that's pretty good but not spectacular.

Pollo Campero have really jacked up their prices for their chicken.

You can have the fried or grilled, but the pieces themselves are small.

At the Springfield Plaza location, when you receive your
order, there is a note on the receipt to receive a free item
of your choice when you call a telephone number indicated.

When you call the telephone number, you are prompted to enter a specific number on the receipt and complete a short voice
survey, and when you are finished they will give you a code
to write down to redeem on your next purchase.

After calling this number and entering the code on the receipt, an announcement came on that said "we are not accepting surveys from this location".

Is this some scam going to verify that you actually obtained your receipt after your order? Because entering the code and hearing this announcement sounds way too fishy.

I'll stick with Roy Rogers.
