The son of a good friend dropped out of an FCPS earlier this semester. His folks are upset that he will not graduate with his friends.

Mountain View was suggested, but the kid refused to consider it.

I was wondering if any posters cared to comment on Mountain View and how it compares to Bryant and Pimmitt Alternative Schools.

At this point does it really matter? Mountain view is great...and tell him if this is about his ego getting crushed for going to Mountain View then without a high school degree he can enjoy his ego working at McDonalds.

Junior year, i was in the same boat. Grades were poor, missed a lot of school, and generally didn't care about school. When mountain view was suggested, i thought, is this what i've come to? An alterantive school for kids who don't belong? After weighing my options this was the best one. Never have i experienced the type of atmosphere that i saw at Mountain View. Students and teachers work hand in hand to give these kids a second chance. The relationship i had with my mentor is one that i'll never forget.

i attended mountain view because of pregnancy my senior year... i saw what a difference they made for the drop outs. lots of the kids there say they wished they'd dropped out of thier base school earlier because they love mountain view so much. it does wonders, he should really consider it.

That is not always true. My own child went to mountain view. For the same reason Mwade went. Did not get up for school, showing up late, etc. Mountain View was suggest and my child made it a goal to get their GED. It was the best decision my child had ever made. The above statement is not always true about every kid who attends Mountain View.

LIFE must of had gotten knocked up or had children before they finished school themselves. Don't know if you are a male or female, but it doesn't matter.

I think it's a great thing what they do at the school. Plenty of people I know have gone through the school.

When I was in high school (starting around 2002?) it was known for that. Nothing bad, but an observation I thought I'd mention.

let me just say that i got more done there than all 3 years of public school

No, it means he has a job and he is happy unlike you the forum prick who is unhappy locked up in a 4x5 cubical eating peoples shit all day..... Sounds like to me anyone who feels the need to be a prick leads a sad life and comes on the forums only to vent off.
