Fairfax County Parkway Needs a Guard Rail From Springfield to Herndon

Fairfax County Parkway desperately needs a guard rail from springfield all the way up to Chantilly/Hernduras. I've seen many cars spin out and almost veer onto the other side of the road during my commute. Once they get over and onto the grass, it is usually wet all summer and there is no chance to stop or steer safely at 50 MPH.

And in the winter, it's worse, for obvious reasons. Today I saw fresh tire tracks between Burke and Fairfax, looked like some car went completely across and onto the other side.

When will Fairfax County wake up and realize they need to invest in a guard rail along that road? Or at least some sort of median besides a ditch and wet grass.

It's not just that, if you drive in traffic, you know that there are a lot of things going on and

Just the monotony of traffic alone can distract a driver, going from 0-5 mph and then sudden braking... stuff like that...

Route 286 is a state roadway, So call the state and leave the county out

Anyone know what the current count is? I'm sure it's up there, between what I've witnessed and what I've read about here...

well if people would do the actual posted speed limit, not 65-70, and put down their phones and focus on driving. the road would be plenty safe...

I am fairly certain that at 0-5 mph, you aren't going to careen across an open median, and into oncoming traffic.

I doubt there has ever been an oncoming collision on FXCO Pkwy.

sorry i was like half asleep when i wrote that. I meant when you normally going 0-5 and then you get those 25-40 mph spurts here and there and then suddenly have to slam on your brakes. if you've been in nova traffic you know what i'm talking about..

to all the people saying people need to get off their phones and pay attention, that is true and i agree with you but let's face it: that is not going to happen especially with the younger folks on the road.

so why not build a little guard rail to prevent deaths?
