Not true. An experienced motorcyclist can avoid accidents that can't be avoided when driving a car. They can evade cars coming to their lane of travel, for instance. I commute to work via motorcycle and have logged over 200,000 miles over 30 years. It's just that there are a whole lot of mediocre motorcyclists out there.

That's great for you and something to be proud of, but you have to know that for every experienced motorcyclist like you there's a hundred novices that will lay one down in a corner on a Sunday ride.

I guess $200 million could be considered "expensive", but it won't be more than that though. Federal law caps claims against Amtrak at $200 million PER INCIDENT.

With 200+ victims and their lawyers dividing $200 million, nobody is going to get rich.
