Amtrak crash investigation should take about 5 minutes

106 mph in a 50 mph zone?

I don't think you need a bunch of degrees to figure this one out.

I thought trains had computer engaged speed controls that override the engineer?

Trains are still very safe, so don't fret. But check out the idiots at the top of the chart:

I take the Amtrak Auto Train to Florida every winter. Never had a moments care about my safety and I still dont. If it's your time to go, it's your time to go.

i've often been told previously even by DMV that a safe motorcycle rider has nearly the same safety level as a car driver

so something must be bullshit about the new obamagraph

Right, because the automotive and surface transportation industries never lobby anyone.

Not true. An experienced motorcyclist can avoid accidents that can't be avoided when driving a car. They can evade cars coming to their lane of travel, for instance. I commute to work via motorcycle and have logged over 200,000 miles over 30 years. It's just that there are a whole lot of mediocre motorcyclists out there.

That's great for you and something to be proud of, but you have to know that for every experienced motorcyclist like you there's a hundred novices that will lay one down in a corner on a Sunday ride.

You "riders" really are idiots.

You mean there are some "riders" who are better than others? What a remarkable insight! Did you also know that some sports teams are better than others?

Now there's some "rider logic"! Some assclown at a DMV knows more than raw statistics? LOL.

All safety features must have a human override in case a sensor/ computer goes bad. No flood of cash needed for this but yes bridges need sandblasting repairs, painting all over the country.

A train engineer was a job kids looked way up to many years back, It used to take years to get in that position.

106 miles a hour? Criminal neglect, He's lawyered up and forgetting it all , he will do time and it should be times 7 for it.

Mr. Sumwalt of the NTSB said it was too soon to determine if the excessive speed caused the derailment. Investigators don’t know whether the train accelerated steadily or suddenly to 106 mph, he added.

how the fuck does a train "suddenly" accelerate to 106 mph. its not a porsche. its a train that weight in at several hundred tons. its takes a train quite a bit of time to get up to speeds...

Now there's some "rider logic"! Some assclown at a DMV knows more than raw statistics? LOL.

You missed the key words in that sentence, but it's okay. Read to learn and learn to read.

Key word being 'safe' rider has 'nearly' the same safety.

Not rider HAS the same safety as level as a car driver.

It's okay, I make lamb....

Who do you think owns Amtrak?

hint: look in your mirror (assuming you're a taxpayer)

It's going to be expensive for sure. There was some "high dollar" plaintiffs that were fatalized. One survivor has already filed a lawsuit claiming brain damage LOL.

“It is simply a fact that insufficient funding for Amtrak has delayed the installation of PTC, and to deny a connection between the accident and underfunding Amtrak is to deny reality,” said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y."

So after the Dems try to use dead folks for political purposes before the bodies were even cold, it turns out that the money for the positive train control system that could have prevented the crash was already appropriated.

In fact, the system has already been INSTALLED on that section of track. But it's not been turned on.

The problem is bureaucratic delays at the FCC over spectrum allocation for the radio control.

I guess $200 million could be considered "expensive", but it won't be more than that though. Federal law caps claims against Amtrak at $200 million PER INCIDENT.

With 200+ victims and their lawyers dividing $200 million, nobody is going to get rich.

well new information.

several train in the area that night may have been shot at...

not sure if that would explain why it was going 100 mph though...
