I'm curious to hear any experiences with buying a short-sale property in Fairfax County.

For those that don't know: a short sale is when a homeowner is basically about to be foreclosed upon, and works with a realtor and the bank to offer the home for less than what the mortgage balance is, to prevent the expense of a foreclosure.

Shortsales can be very difficult to successfully purchase from what I've heard, but looking for some first-person experiences.
