Hat's off to the HOV violator the other day who uses a luggage trolley, purple hat (Ravens?) and red jacket to create a second person (aka, the passenger) to cruise along with you on I-66 at 8:05 in the morning.

Hopefully, no cops are patrolling that stretch in the future....

It's because of people like him they're trying to justify enacting a toll on 66.

1st violation - $1,000 ticket
2nd violation - $3,000 ticket
3rd violation - immediate confiscation of vehicle and all contents, no matter who owns it. Driver and passengers dropped at nearest exit.

Violations would drop immediately.

Donno. I am sure VDOT want to change the rules. But I wonder how much the state police likes the current system as they likely nab 30 or 40 people a day.

Thats a lot of profit for them.

If they catch 30 or 40 a day, they must be missing a lot more. A toll would lower that number.
