This was posted late last night on the school's football page website. The page has taken down the "coach info" tab. My son, who formerly went to O'Connell heard about this in a text he received from a friend of his who still goes there, so I guess it was announced to the students, or at least the football team, during the day yesterday. I'm curious whether anyone has any further information on this. I suspect a third consecutive 5-5 season made Coach think that there wasn't much further growth potential in the program, and that there were greener pastures. The end of season loss to McNamara couldn't have helped either. Even with this, I don't think he was forced out, but I could be wrong.

It certainly looks like the football experiment there has crashed. DJO was crushed 38-0 in their home opener yesterday.

O'Connell officially announced it is moving the football program out of the WCAC which has nationsl powerhouses like DeMatha, Gonzaga....

Probably a good move for them as WCAC has just become uber-competitive.
