in Fairfax County, what does it mean when someone places
a single log at the end of my driveway?(on the lawn)
it's just one log... appx 10 inchese in diameter and 20 inches long
looks freshly-cut... checked with my neighbors and nobody had
and treework done in the last several months....

be careful new resident..
that can mean someone was casing your house because they intend to burglarize it. The log could be a marker for them, or someone else to identify the home
so move it to your neighbors house or the person across the street to be safe

It's not any practice well-known to the Fairfax County police.
Maybe it just fell off a truck and landed there, or it was on the road and someone moved it from the gutter to your lawn.

That there is what we call a space log. It used to be part of a space log cabin that broke up in the upper atmosphere. You should sell it on Ebay.

Is it Sweetwood? Every now and then a piece of Sweetwood will end up in my yard. You should cut off a one pound chuck, then marinate it for 1 week in soy sauce and maple sugar. Boil it for 15 minutes, add salt and pepper, and enjoy!

When I lived in East L.A., we use to put logs or sticks in peoples yards so the other gang members would know what house to stake out. We would take turns watching the house day and night until we got the owners routine down. Once we knew, we would either do a home invasion or a kidnapping, depending on the occupants. You are probably being watched by a gang...maybe MS-13 or one of these other wannabe gangs you have in Virginia. If I were you I would call the police, before you end up on the wrong end of a good raping.
