At least NOT at the grocery store. It so happens that I give to St. Jude's every month but FUCK, can't we get ONE month or ONE week where we can go to a grocery store in NOVA without somebody hitting us up for SOMETHING? I am tired of having to deal with charities outside of VERY goddamned grocery store, and I am equally tired of getting it up again when I try to pay. Grocery stores- give your customers a break. Tell the charities to back off for a bit.

I hate the constant begging. I feel guilty for not giving (at these places), and then I get angry that these places are making me feel guilty. When asked for a donation, I've taken to saying "not this time".

What's..."charity"?
What's..."going to the store"? I employ a shopping service. They keep my home stocked with everything I instruct them to acquire. Everything else...Amazon Prime.

I don't mind the Cub Scouts, especially if their mamas are MILFs. And they often are.

Most charities are scams, but the ones that aren't have pissed me off to the point where I no longer donate.
Once you donate they hound you for more with a constant barrage of junk mailings and worse, sell your info to other charities that will the bug the shit out of you.
I enjoy WETA programming so for years, I sent them an annual donation of $250. I swear they must spend twice that sending me junk mail every other day or two. Some mailings even ask me to put them in my will!
Fuck 'em, I stopped sending them money a few years ago. I just hope I live long enough that their fucking computer drops me from their mailing list.

Walgreens really annoys me with their donate a candy bar to the troops. They sell the candy bars for just about full retail.
Why the **** can't they sell them to customers at wholesale cost and then donate them to the troops. Walgreens has way more money than me or anybody else walking into that store. Why do they expect me to pay their 80 cent profit on a candy bar & then donate it.

You can cause a big stink in Fairfax by asking to see a county-issued peddler/solicitor license. The license is required of anyone selling a good or service door-to-door or from a temporary location even if the intent of the sale is to generate revenue for a charity.

I involuntarily donate to the troops every payday.

There's also an organization collecting money for cancer research for kids who don't have cancer.

total bullshit
there are illegal mexicans (and europeans and asians) drawing unemployement checks (and soc sec checks) from fx co va and fed gov
the idea non-gov workers haven't been inflated enough by obama printing money 8x over what any past president did
and that somehow they owe to give all their possessions to some charity:
under obama all we see is charity workers driving beamers: some of them members of foreign militaries
-------------------------------
maybe jewish run for money (those tv ads) - faked photos setup to cause fear - possibly the boy injured by an african king for the purpose of making the photo - or just a setup
the money doesn't go to charity
it probably goes right to foreign militaries attacking usa from within, and shooting and our soldiers abroad

If I'm not mistaken, these stores take your donations and the tax break. They are also recognized for all of the "good work" they're doing.
You might not be singled out and thanked for your donation but you could get the tax break if you wanted by donating directly, instead of letting Safeway have it.
I always say no thanks when I'm asked to donate at a store. I have donated to animal charities and find that they must sell my info to every other animal charity in the nation. They should only send post cards to get their names in front of you. These elaborate "gifts" that are mailed must eat into the good the donations could do.

At our grocery store they were getting on the PA to announce "We've had a $XX donation at Checkstand 5!" Talk about coercion.
And if you look at the fine print, they often don't tell you where the dolars or going, just to a nebulous "breast cancer research" or "childhood hunger."
I just politely tell them "No thanks, I pick my own charities."
