Rebelboy is a little league coach who was tweeting about how Fairfax had third and goal and was gonna bring it in for a touchdown and the win. Then when they couldn't get 36" inches on two downs he decided they'd really meant to call a timeout for a FG attempt to...tie. What a joke.

Guy needs to realize high school games get high school refs.

The "going to the ground" rule is not a High School rule.

This thread is for week to week games to establish point spread for a hypothetical cash wager on local high school football games (not to actually gamble of course) while the other one is for chest-thumping about your favorite high school and getting chippy with those who disagree. Better wear your big boy pads on your typing fingers in that thread.

Yes, please post those soon. I, for one, enjoy reading them and the commentary that goes with them, even if I might not agree.

If you are looking to challenge yourself, you should come up with lines on JV games.

I appreciate the complements. No worries the spreads will keep getting done. This week is a difficult one to get excited for, not much out there in terms of good matchups, but as always there will be a few games that should be entertaining.

Edison @ Falls Church (-8.0)

Hayfield (-28.0) @ Mount Vernon
*Hawks keep rolling.

Langley (-40.0) @ Jefferson
*Liberty is weird this year. Teams look good one week, then bad the next, especially Langley and Fairfax, never know what performance they’ll churn out. I just look at the talent Langley has, their 56 point win against Marshall, and the fact that winless teams check out at this point. I feel confident with the spread here.

Marshall @ Fairfax (-24.0)
*Read above; what team will show up? Regardless Fairfax is at least 3 TDs better. Look for them to cruise.

McLean @ Madison (-17.0)
*McLean is a little up and down too, I think Madison is better and more consistent.

Robinson (-15.0) @ Oakton
*Oakton did something right against Centreville keeping the game somewhat close last week. I think Oakton has the bodies to slow Robinson’s runs but they’ll break a few big ones and that will be the difference.

South County (-35.0) @ Woodson
*Stallions cover the spread every week.

Stone Bridge (-35.0) @ South Lakes

Stuart @ Wakefield (-16.0)

TC Williams @ Lake Braddock (-21.0)
*This is tricky with AJ Alexander out. I think Braddock should still score at will against the WORST defense in the Northern Region. This could be a shootout, as most of TC’s games are.

Washington-Lee @ Centreville (-49.0)
*Centreville has actually been one of the worst teams at covering the spreads this year. For the talent discrepancy, I am going to keep the spread huge.

West Potomac (-14.0) @ Lee

West Springfield (-7.0) @ Annandale
*This is game of the week, slow week, but two schools having real solid bounce back seasons. I envision this game being close throughout.

Westfield (-31.0) @ Herndon
*Bulldogs trounce Herndon with the most balanced offensive attack in the region.

Yorktown @ Chantilly (-3.0)
*Upset alert for Yorktown. I think Chantilly gives it everything they have to avoid a losing regular season with the prospects of Robinson and Westfield remaining on the schedule. This should be a good one too.

Duh!! Steve K2 is only doing Northern VA and is more focused, The VAPREPS GUY is doing the entire state and his coverage attention is more widespread and less focused on 1 area. Stands to reason Steve K2 would be better predicting this area Capt Obvious.

Unusual, but this week I pretty much agree with all your picks/spreads.

That being said, I'm still looking for a good game to go to. I was thinking Yorktown/Chantilly but I already went to Madison/Chantilly. Is it worth seeing SoCo beat down on Woodson? I kinda want to compare SoCo with last years team but I'd like to see a good game. I was at the SoCo/Chantilly game last year and was underwhelmed by SoCo. Perhaps I'll have to go to Loudoun or Prince William Co...

You may be right but there is only 1 editor that does the NOVA games so its pretty much the same scope as Steve's. There is only one guy that does each region; not the entire state.

Completely agree with your assessment of Fairfax. They have been maddeningly inconsistent. The JV and Freshman teams seem to have found their stride, though we'll have to see if that can hold up tonight when both play Marshall.

Oakton beat Robinson because Oakton gets better through the season. Robinson had some luck and doesn't get better. Done.

Well, not a bad week for spreads. Pretty much all were blowouts as expected. The only real surprise was Oakton over Robinson.

Edison @ Falls Church (-8.0)
*Falls Church won 42-6. Really exceeded the spread.

Hayfield (-28.0) @ Mount Vernon
*Hayfield won 49-21. Love nailing the spread to the point, very few greater feelings.

Langley (-40.0) @ Jefferson
*Langley won 48-7. Another great spread!

Marshall @ Fairfax (-24.0)
*Fairfax won 28-3.

McLean @ Madison (-17.0)
*Madison won 40-0; strong showing for the Warhawks.

Robinson (-15.0) @ Oakton
*Oakton defeated Robinson 7-0.

South County (-35.0) @ Woodson
*Stallions win 69-6. 61-0 at half.

Stone Bridge (-35.0) @ South Lakes
*Stone Bridge won 50-7.

Stuart @ Wakefield (-16.0)
*Wakefield won 42-0.

TC Williams @ Lake Braddock (-21.0)
*Lake Braddock won 52-7. Really looking forward to their game against South County next week..

Washington-Lee @ Centreville (-49.0)
*Centreville won 35-7; done with the big spreads for the Wildcats.

West Potomac (-14.0) @ Lee
*West Potomac won 30-14.

West Springfield (-7.0) @ Annandale
*West Springfield all over Annandale 35-10. The Spartans will be a dangerous team to play in the postseason.

Westfield (-31.0) @ Herndon
*Westfield won 66-28.

Yorktown @ Chantilly (-3.0)
*Yorktown won 17-14. Atleast I called a close one.

Bullshit. They haven't played anybody. Two teams with a winning record. They won't beat Centreville or Westfield, and Battlefield and Patriot could probably both take them, let alone Ocean Lakes.

Well last week was a great week of spreads, but pretty boring football. This week has a number of great matchups for Halloween. I’ve been around long enough to see a number of crazy scores on Halloween so we’ll see what this Friday has in store.

Centreville (-24.0) @ Herndon
*Herndon’s defense will not be able to stop Centreville from regularly scoring. Low spread, I think more like 5 TDs will be the outcome, but Centreville needs to cover a spread at some point this year.

Chantilly @ Robinson (-6.0)
*This is actually a really interesting game, if Chantilly wins they will make the playoffs, if they lose they’re done. This of course is assuming Chantilly loses to Westfield the following week, which they absolutely will. I just think the last two losses for the Chargers have done them in. Meanwhile Robinson is left with questions after the Concorde is containing their run. Robinson couldn’t score a point against Oakton while Chantilly blew Oakton out. I still think Robinson’s O-line will be the difference here.

Hayfield (-14.0) @ Falls Church
*Hayfield continues to role. Falls Church will provide a good test and this spread may be disrespecting the Jaguars. We shall see. Definitely a good game to attend.

Thomas Jefferson @ McLean (-21.0)

Lake Braddock @ South County (-16.0)
*Game of the Week. I see the Stallions being ready for their only real test of the season and looking to silence the doubters. While Braddock is good, without Alexander they’re not elite, hence their West Springfield loss the week before. Stallions should role in this one.

Madison (-7.0) @ Langley
*This is another real good game with what I perceive as two pretty evenly matched teams. I was a bit torn with Langley being at home but I think Madison is just having a better year. I look for the Warhawks to grind out a good win.

Marshall @ South Lakes (-20.0)
*Be honest, who ever thought Marshall would come into this game with more wins than South Lakes? Despite the win totals, South Lakes had a far more difficult out of district schedule and their athleticism should leave Marshall with too much to overcome.

Mount Vernon @ Yorktown (-28.0)

Oakton @ Westfield (-20.0)
*Kudos to the Cougars for progressing as the season has gone along. A shutout of Robinson is impressive, holding Centreville to 21 is impressive, but can they stop the most balanced offensive attack in the region? I say no.

Stone Bridge (-28.0) @ Fairfax

Stuart @ Edison (-3.0)
*The quality of football won’t be that high, but this should be a close game for those that go to these schools and alumni.

WT Woodson (-6.0) @ Lee
*The Cavaliers have really came back to ground after some good performances early on. I look for them to win here though, while
Wakefield @ Washington-Lee (-1.0)
*Upset alert for Wakefield. I think a young team experiencing their first success in years is due for a hiccup.

West Potomac @ Annandale (-7.0)
*I am going to ahead and make the safe pick with Annandale, but I will put them on upset alert too. I think the Wolverines are better than their record suggests and it remains to be seen how Annandale will respond after their drubbing last week.

Obviously, Pannoni wants to have the image that he has created at SOCO because there is no strategic reason to run up scores like he does. Otherwise, if he wanted to send a message to the rest of the Northern Region he would schedule schools that are projected to be strong the following year. Unlike college schedules I believe that the schedules are firmed up no more than a year in advance.

Schedules are done in 2 year cycles. They are working on the schedules for 2015-16 and 2016-17 right now. Opponents are already set. Home and Away will switch for the second year.

Schedules are already set for next year.

Every Concorde team (except for Herndon) will have to play two schools from Loudon (Briar Woods,Broad Run, Stonebridge, Tuscarora, or Potomac Falls). These D5 schools will impact the power points and their over all schedules as well.

Should make things very interesting next season.

1. Can't wait to see how SOCO fanatics justify this ass-whupping. 1:30 left and I'm hoping Braddock goes for 2 to hang 70.

2. "Eff" the VHSL simulator, good for Coach Lalli trying to save his job at Chantilly.

3. Hayfield laying the smacketh down on Falls Church. They had a brutal 1st half of the schedule, but it seems like they're better than record indicates.

4. Steve was right about Langley and Madison being close - does this win give Langley a shot at back end of playoffs?

5. Am I the only one surprised how close Yorktown vs. MV was?

Centreville (-24.0) @ Herndon
*Centreville won 49-27. The Wildcats dominated the game, but interestingly enough they failed to cover another spread I viewed as conservative.

Chantilly @ Robinson (-6.0)
*Chantilly won 28-9. Fantastic win for the Chargers, which should put them back in the playoffs. Robinson is in free fall, I know they had the QB injury which is big, but are people figuring out the new coach? A few weeks ago people were saying he was coach of the year. 3 bad losses in the row and Centreville next week mean Robinson will finish tied for last in the district and limp into the postseason on a 4 game losing streak.

Fairfax @ Stone Bridge (-28.0)
*Stone Bridge won 41-14, damn I am good at spreads for Fairfax. It feels like I've been within a point almost every game.

Hayfield (-14.0) @ Falls Church
*Hayfield won 42-14, dominated.

Thomas Jefferson @ McLean (-21.0)
*McLean won 49-0. Jefferson will finish winless. Good bounce back performance for the Highlanders.

Lake Braddock @ South County (-16.0)
*Lake Braddock 62 @ South County 41; I know I went with the safe pick and picked South County, but it was poetic justice to see the easy schedule come and bite them in the ass. Parents in the bleachers were talking state and I'm thinking who the hell have they beaten? Lake Braddock without Alexander went up and down the field every time they had the ball as this was really the first passing offense the Stallions have gone against this year. South County is better then the score suggests, I'm pretty sure they had 7 turnovers which made the game ugly. I do think they'll advance a couple rounds still, but I am convinced the talk of them beating Centreville or Westfield is farfetched. With a schedule like they had, no way they're ready for the big boys in the playoffs. More troubling to me than the ass kicking was how dejected they looked, guys had their heads down, their was no coaching going on the sideline, it was a pity party; not a resilient team.

On the other side, great win for the Bruins who earned yet another Patriot Conference Title.

Madison (-7.0) @ Langley
*Langley won 21-20. Good win for the Saxons and as expected a great game.

Marshall @ South Lakes (-20.0)
*South Lakes with the 42-14 win.

Mount Vernon @ Yorktown (-28.0)
*Yorktown won 28-21. Did Yorktown play their JV, not in my wildest dreams can I imagine this being a 7 point game.

Oakton @ Westfield (-20.0)
*Bulldogs win 38-0. They're rolling and have a legitimate shot at states.

Stuart @ Edison (-3.0)
*Edison won 28-0.

WT Woodson (-6.0) @ Lee
*Lee pulls the 19-9 upset. Woodson has regressed as the season has gone along. Terrible loss for the Cavs.

Wakefield @ Washington-Lee (-1.0)
*Picked an upset right, W&L won 27-20.

West Potomac @ Annandale (-7.0)
*Annandale won 31-21.

Starting QB Joe Mcbride left the game with a knee injury before halftime. Yorktown piled on 28-0 by the third quarter. Depending on the health of the QB next Friday's matchup against archrival Washington-Lee should be interesting. Like last year both teams have the same record. But it will not be for the district title. Hayfield will likely clinch that with a win over Edison next week. I think this will be Hayfield's first National District title. Since Hayfield joined, I believe only Yorktown and W-L have won.

LB is a young team, looking at the roster 8 starters are jr/soph on offense.
Also alot of jr/soph playing on defense.

They have had alot of injuries and having to play younger players for the past few weeks.

The offense is starting to come together and the QB is maturing and making good decisions.

The defense is starting to play better after losing ALexander and nursing a lot of injuries.

They seem to be peaking at the right time, after all the talk about how they have fallen off in the past few weeks, they may be the team to watch, come playoff time.

Woodson was without starting QB Riley I believe. Still, the new coaching staff has shown absolutely no progress and coaching cost them two early games.

Lake Braddock's QB has shown tremendous maturation as the season has gone along. I've seen Braddock play 3 times and he was better each performance. If he can consistently play like he did on Friday Lake Braddock is capable of making some noise in the playoffs. QB needs to learn to get rid of the ball and slide though, he took 3 of the hardest hits on a QB I have seen this year against South County, to the point I was surprised he got up for a couple. Hits like that will take their toll.

To the supporting cast, the receivers are getting better. The routes looked more precise and the offense more comfortable. I don't know how the class breakdown goes for the group, but if most are underclassman then this bodes really well for the Bruins.

Going out of town so wanted to get this week's lines up. May alter them and add some comments later in the week. Some good rivalry games which are always fun, but nothing sticks out as a must-see.

Annandale @ South County (-28.0)

Centreville (-21.0) @ Robinson
*Robinson will head into the playoffs on a 4 game skid.

Edison @ Hayfield (-21.0)
*Hawks will win their 7th in a row heading into the playoffs after 3 losses to region powers. This team was extremely close to taking down South County too, held a lead for a large portion; and stayed within striking distance of Westfield throughout. Not a team most want to see in round 1.

Falls Church (-20.0) @ Stuart
*This will be a blow out. Disappointing season for the Raiders.

Herndon @ Oakton (-6.0)
*These two teams are pretty evenly matched. Should be a decent game on Friday.

Lee @ Lake Braddock (-30.0)

Madison (-28.0) @ Marshall

McLean @ Langley (-10.5)

Mount Vernon @ Wakefield (-24.0)

South Lakes @ Fairfax (-14.0)

Stone Bridge (-40.0) @ Jefferson

TC Williams @ West Potomac (-5.0)

WT Woodson @ West Springfield (-27.0)

Westfield (-16.0) @ Chantilly
*Game of the Week: Westfield should be too much, but Chantilly is coming off their best win of the year, which should assure the Chargers a spot in the postseason. In a rivalry game, we’ll see if the Chargers can keep it interesting.

Yup; 7 turnovers will result in a defeat every time. On the plus side, when the offense held onto the ball, they were dangerous. The defense looked lost: both Hayfield and now LB showed the way to go is to pass, pass, pass. Hopefully Friday was a wakeup call for everyone - players and coaches alike.

On another note, shame on the LB student section for interrupting the singing of the National Anthem - hats/caps off kids and be respectful - your conduct was a discredit to your school.

Centreville's Defensive Coordinator Adam Neff has been fired following a heated disagreement between himself and Head Coach Chris Haddock. Many players are still in the dark about what caused the arguement. Coach Marc Mathie will be returning as the Defensive Coordinator and absorb all of Neff's duties. Could be a blessing in disguise.

Since Mr. K2 is away, my thoughts on Ytn @ W-L. If the Yorktown QB is healthy expect a competitive game between rivals that could go either way. If he is out, W-L should easily win this one. Arlington County "championship" is on the line.

Just got back in. Proud of myself for the spreads this week, I went 14-0 in out right picks and almost every spread was super close to the actual score. Again, if your not on the Steve K2 thread, and your posting on here about high school football, shame on you. That’s my sales pitch for the playoffs and next year.

Postseason predictions will likely be posted Wednesday this week.

Annandale @ South County (-28.0)
*South County won 49-15, no surprise here.

Centreville (-21.0) @ Robinson
*Had I known AJ Turner would be back the spread would have been higher. Centreville cruised 55-14. I’ve been saying it all year, I have no doubt Centreville and Westfield are heading on a collision course for another region championship and I can’t wait!

Edison @ Hayfield (-21.0)
*Hayfield won 28-10. No surprise the Hawks finished the regular season on a 7 game winning streak. Having played Westfield and South County close in the early weeks they are an intriguing postseason team to keep an eye on. Still don’t think they can knock off a big dog though.

Falls Church (-20.0) @ Stuart
*Falls Church beat Stuart 34-15, these spreads are looking good so far.

Herndon @ Oakton (-6.0)
*In a winner goes to the postseason, loser goes home, Oakton won 21-16. Oakton jumped out to a big lead before letting Herndon back in the game.

Lee @ Lake Braddock (-30.0)
*Lake Braddock won 47-20 and the spreads are still looking great!

Madison (-28.0) @ Marshall
*Madison beat Marshall 36-6.

McLean @ Langley (-10.5)
*In a winner goes to the postseason, loser goes home rivalry game this one turned out to be all Langley with the Saxons winning 36-13.

Mount Vernon @ Wakefield (-24.0)
*Wakefield won 45-12.

South Lakes @ Fairfax (-14.0)
*Fairfax won 16-7, flat night for the Rebels offensively.

Stone Bridge (-40.0) @ Jefferson
*Stone Bridge won 53-8; Jefferson finishes as the lone team in the region with 0 W’s.

TC Williams @ West Potomac (-5.0)
*West Potomac won 31-23.

WT Woodson @ West Springfield (-27.0)
*West Springfield won 44-0. The Spartans are a team that will be interesting to follow in the postseason. They appear to be pretty legitimate.

Westfield (-16.0) @ Chantilly
*This was my shocker of the night, Westfield 53-0 in a rivalry game. No, I’m not surprised Westfield won convincingly, but for the Chargers to have their worst loss ever in the series, that was surprising and the boys wearing purple should be embarrassed for that performance. Chantilly technically finished 3rd in the Concorde and will be going to the postseason, but Oakton and Robinson who they beat both played much better than the Chargers against the likes of Westfield and Centreville who outscored Chantilly 102-0 combined. I look for the Chargers to be a quick out and Westfield to be hosting the region championship in a few weeks.

I will hold off on the spreads but here is the D6 field.

(16) Langley @ (1) Centreville
*I guess Centreville got the 1 seed by a tenth of a point. Westfield deserved it, but they might actually play better on the road in big games.

(9) Yorktown @ (8) Patriot

(13) Annandale @ (4) Battlefield
*I see a lot of people on the other thread assuming South County is going to get by Battlefield. Not a safe assumption. I haven’t seen them play, but I am told they are real legitimate.

(12) Robinson @ (5) South County
*Oh boy, this one is going could be fun! Upset alert for the Stallions. I know Robinson comes in having lost 4 in a row, but South County still didn’t face many Robinson caliber teams on their schedule this year.

(15) Stonewall Jackson @ (2) Westfield

(10) Chantilly @ (7) Hayfield
*Hayfield should win this one, but this is still an intriguing matchup as Chantilly has some good wins under their belt and are unlikely to be intimidated by Hayfield. That being said a Charger win would set up a rematch with Westfield and they may not have much fight just for that reason.

(14) Oakton @ (3) Lake Braddock
*Oakton stunned Lake Braddock 2 years ago on the road in route to a region title. Being a Concorde team still isn’t something I take likely, this could be a good one.

(11) Washington-Lee @ (6) West Springfield
*This could not have worked out better for the Spartans. They get arguably the weakest team in the postseason field round 1, then a Braddock team who they beat a few weeks ago. I have been saying watch out for a Spartan postseason run and a trip to the final 4 isn’t out of the question here. At the moment would like Braddock though in a potential rematch next week.

Steve,

No offense, but you usually suck week in and week out.

Yorktown minus 24 against Patriot? Surely, you jest. Patriot will likely win, but if they don't it will be a close one.

Centreville minus 12? Oh boy - way to go out on a limb. When Centreville wins by 30 or more, you will then count that game as a winner? Ponderous, man.

Oh, and Annandale has no chance against Battlefield, yet you have them as a three point favorite?

Come back at me on Saturday and see if I wasn't correct on all three of these!

(16) Stonewall Jackson @ (1) Centreville (-30.0)
*My knowledge on the PWC teams is not great, but I know Centreville will cruise here. Look for the Wildcats to be the healthiest they’ve been this year at the right time.

(9) Yorktown @ (8) Patriot (-14.0)
*Patriot and Yorktown teams I’ve seen. Patriot appeared to be legit to me. I look for their big line paired with playmakers to be too much for Yorktown.

(13) Annandale @ (4) Battlefield (-24.5)
*Battlefield is a sleeper for some in this tournament. Annandale has had a great year but they are not on par with what Battlefield brings to the table.

(12) Robinson @ (5) South County (-20.0)
*The matchup is intriguing, but the Stallions are built to stop the run. A good passing attack will do the Stallions in, but that is not something Robinson has. Stallions should prevail.

(15) Langley @ (2) Westfield (-28.0)
*As with Fairfax, Langley has been a Jekyll and Hyde all year. They are capable of keeping the spread down, but no shot in hell at winning. I look for a blowout in the Bulldogs favor though.

(10) Chantilly @ (7) Hayfield (-8.5)
*The Hawks may role here, but Chantilly brings it from time to time. Coming off a 53-0 drubbing to Westfield I expect the Chargers to finish with a good performance on Friday coming up just short.

(14) Oakton @ (3) Lake Braddock (-15.5)
*On paper the Bruins should crush Oakton based on talent. That being said, Oakton’s coaching staff has a great track record in the postseason with sound game plans. I almost want to put the Bruins on upset alert, but won’t go that far.

(11) Washington-Lee @ (6) West Springfield (-28.0)

Centreville will win by +35
Yorktown upsets Patriot
Battlefield line is probably right
South County line is probably a little low
Westfield probably right
I think Hayfield wins by +20
Oakton - Lake Braddock intriguing. Don't know where this line should be - could be close - could be a +28 blowout
West Springfield probably about right

I don't understand why Chantilly keeps getting any respect/benefit of the doubt. They could not have been more terrible/ineffective when I saw them.

Like many teams - Chantilly's past success is what people tend to remember. But this is not your Chantilly team of the past - they just did not look that good to me - I saw them play twice this year and I am pretty confident that Hayfield will put up some big numbers on them. Of course, the cold/windy weather might play a little bit in favor of teams that rely more on the run than the pass.

5A power teams will win most of the matchups next year in my opinion. SB played close games vs LB and WF this year.

Mad D held vs us till 4th quarter. #40 one of the best LB I saw this year. Was he new or transfer?

#40 Madison HL

Centreville's defensive standout Tyler Love is out for the season with an MCL injury.

My gut early forecast would be:
Briar Woods: 3-2 (W vs. Chantilly, Lee, West Potomac; losses vs. Westfield, South County)
Stone Bridge: 3-2 (W vs. Chantilly, Madison, McLean; losses vs. Westfield, Robinson)
Broad Run: 3-2 (W vs. Oakton, Wakefield, Langley; losses vs. Centreville, Robinson)
Tuscarora: 3-2 (W vs. Oakton, Herndon, Edison; losses vs. Centreville, Hayfield)
That would put them at 12-8 assuming no upsets. There probably will be so yeah, they will likely go in the 13-7 to 15-5 range. The games against Conference 5 will be interesting for sure.

Here are some D5 spreads to decipher. Haven't seen or followed most of these teams which is why I focused on D6.

Edison @ Tuscarora (-35.0)

Freedom-Woodbridge @ Stone Bridge (-38.0)

Mountain View @ Briar Woods (-28.0)

North Stafford @ Falls Church (-6.0)
*North Stafford was really good last year, maybe they have enough for an upset.

Potomac Falls (-10.0) @ Wakefield

Steve 2k circa 2012 playoffs:

No. 7 Oakton at No. 2 Lake Braddock (-8.0)

Buckle Up!
