How long does the extradition process take when someone is in MD and the warrant in VA

My friend is in MD detention center picked up at his place of employment for a FW in VA where he lives. He had a motorcycle and parked it at his fathers house and he left the key someone took it upon themselves to use the bike and then when they were out they eluded a police officer. No one is confessing to using it and now when they ran the plates the only person to come after for it is him. He was at work at the time and he has proof from his time sheet at the time in question. Now he has been there for 10 days in MD he has waived extradition.

I call BS on this story. How did "someone" get your friend's motorcycle key? All my biker friends have those keys on them 24/7.
