One of my friends who goes to George Mason told me that Falls Church is not a good school. They said it was old and run down inside and that students act up. They graduated from FCHS in 2011.
Although I also heard that things have been changing recently with a new principal. Please let me know if this is true.

I had personal experience with this school a long time ago as one of its fine students broke into my car to steal my GPS.

Yeah, the new principal (Mr.Yohe) is really great. Falls Church still has a long way to go but he's definitely done alot to improve the school.

I'm glad to hear that it's getting better. The Falls Church area is only getting better and more expensive. I think it will only be a matter of time before FCHS takes from a wealthier (and more educated) demographic that places a higher value on education. It really disappoints me that some students ruin it for others who actually care.

It happened in 2007. Seven years ago is a long time ago for me, maybe not for you.

It's a bottom of the barrel school with lots of brown locusts. And it's not going to get better anytime soon due to all the shitty apartment buildings in the area.

The physical plant is in abysmal shape. The place should have been at the top but a couple of other schools got bumped ahead of them, including TJ.

Falls Church is one of several FCPS high schools that is paying the price for some questionable economic development policies by the County. The Annandale redistricting didn't help much either, dumping more weak neighborhoods on Falls Church while shifting middle class neighborhoods to Woodson. You can thank Tessie Wilson for that one. Up until a year or so ago it looked like Falls Church was the leading candidate to become the next Mount Vernon High School.

It appears that the new principal at FCHS has had some success in stopping the slide. It is still too early though to know whether he can make it into another Marshall.

LOL, the next 'Mount Vernon High School'... hopefully Mount Vernon will come around. Is it the principal that is to blame for Mount Vernon's downward spiral these past few years? A great principal goes a long way.

Also, there is a proposal to bring the Yellow line down route 1 to Hybla Valley, and light rail will go the rest of the way to Fort Belvoir. http://route1multimodalaa.com/project-overview/
It probably won't happen for a while, but it is a plan that is definitely building momentum. This transit project could be the catalyst that will begin the massive overhaul of the Route 1 corridor and the Mount Vernon schools.

Also regarding FCHS, there is no doubt in my mind that Falls Church will be coming around these next few years. It is near Tysons, the Mosaic District is in FCHS boundary which is probably raising home values quite a bit. And it sounds like the principal is fully invested in this school. It is only a matter of time.

No one cared in 2007, and no one cares now.

Falls Church is cool with itself, and Mr. Yohe is great.

Marshall is a discount Madison/McLean wanna-be school. The main thing that kids at Langley, McLean and Madison agree upon is that Marshall is lame.

Falls Church has a terrific principal in Mr. Yohe & it's not the school's fault that it draws the neighborhoods that it does.

Definitely needs work, I agree that it should have been bumped up on the renovation list, but last I heard West Springfield is next, after Marshall, TJ, and Langley are done.

That is probably true, but having SAT scores better than all other County schools except TJHSST, Langley, McLean, Madison, Oakton, Woodson and Robinson isn't bad for a lame school.

Ryan McEldweeb went to Marshall. That it took him until he was married and 28 to score a date with a Madison girl tells you all you need to know about Marshall.

I think you can thank Sandy Evans, not Tessie Wilson.

How do you figure that? Redistricting #1 shifts neighborhoods from overcrowded Annandale to underpopulated Falls Church and newly expanded Lake Braddock. Wakefield Forest areas are left in Annandale even though it is still overcrowded, Falls Church still has excess capacity and WFES abuts Falls Church neighborhoods. I believe Kaye Kory voted against this plan and Tessie Wilson voted for it. In redistricting #2 Tessie Wilson voted to shift WFES to Woodson while Sandy Evans voted to keep it in Annandale.

Falls Church High School is fine. Was kind of a mess when Ms Lloyd was the principal there but it was really turned around. Academically does better than many FCPS high schools that you would think would be ranked higher. Sports teams have also improved over the last 3-4years. As for the actual building...its a shit hole. FCPS should be embarrassed that this school has never had a full renovation (and the light renovation in the early 80s does not count) since the school was built in 1961. They have done minor improvements like adding 2 turf fields to quiet the parents every time they complain that the school hasn't been renovated. But in terms of an education its a fine. And the Annandale boundary that was shifted to FCHS a couple of years ago actually has several very nice neighborhoods i.e. the neighborhoods in between Hummer road and Annandale road...Mcmansions galore.

There's only one Falls Church High School in FCPS. There isn't a Fall Church High School in Fall Church City School district if that's what you're thinking. Falls Church City students go to George Mason High School.

The most ghetto school in northern va, a prison that you must go through for 4 fucking years, You are very fortunate if you're child does not hang around with pot heads, and the "wrong crowd" in general, get bullied so bad they fucking overdose on some narcotic, questionable staff members, *cough ((coaches)), *cough *COUGH common!!!!! we all know them coaches looking at underage girls, and the 35+ year old female teachers who have hit the wall at warp speed, getting touchy and feely with young males, oh wait that's cool though right? dead roach's in fire alarm cases. Unnecessary peer pressure to join extracurricular activities, in my greatest opinion, you do not want to have the stress of representing yourself along with falls church athletics, compared to other schools in Fairfax county public schools. %10 stereotypical white students, %50 Spanish, %5 Asian, %15 black, %20 middle eastern I bet you $2 that all the teachers there read this shit, and you too Mr. yohe
