Republicans ask Senator Mark Warner's advice on Medicaid expansion and he gives it

Republicans thought getting Warner into the debate would have him running scared because he's up for re-election. Instead he gave him a piece of his mind and some logic to go with.

These dumb ass Republican hillbillys are willing to cost us hundreds of millions of dollars with a government shutdown if we don't agree not to expand Medicaid which will also cost our state hundreds of millions of dollars if not expanded.

So basically, they want us to lose money or they'll make us lose twice as much if we don't agree to lose half as much. And not losing any money is not an option to them. Why you say? Because they decided to call it "Obama Care," and now they are ideologically opposed that's why.

Oh yeah, and sorry for the rant, Warner's quotes are in the link

This is killing the local hospitals in rual VA. In towns like mine the elderly and section 8 folks eat up the resources and live the bill.

It will cost the State of Va. over $25 million in added expense that the Affordable care Act was supposed to pick up but have now been dumped on the States because your dear President, Nanny Pelosi and Harry"Grungy" Reid didn't forcast into the original cost so expect to get reamed in taxes in the coming years if this goes through.

lol @ 25 million. You pay that just to bail out rural hospitals and keep them from going bankrupt with a failed system now you idiot. Federally funded Medicaid would alleviate that.

lmao 25 million, and he made that figure up too.

No more bailouts to rural hospitals. Republicans are paying hospitals to stay afloat while increasing costs on people on private health care premiums, it makes no sense.

Medicaid Expansion:

Short-Term gain.

Long-Term pain.

Cut a better long term deal for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Gerry isn't any different than your run-of-the-mill Liberal. They just have their mind on the short term and when you ask them about anything strategic, they just shrug their shoulders.

Nothing new. Nothing changes.

The Medicaid expansion is a horrific idea. Why should America or why should Virginia take care of people who didn't have the sense to save a few bucks during their lifetime? Medicaid is large enough. Instead, the allocation has to be managed better and for those who have made more than a few passes through the doors, they have to be reminded that others need care too. Create a yearly, as well as a lifetime maximum on benefits. When they've spent the limit ... oh well.

Also Medicade is different than Medicare.
So tell that fucking 3 year old they should have saved their money when they were younger.
Heartless Conservatives all of you are.

How about just expanding it and the laws of supply and demand kick in and efficency inproves driving the cost down?

Doctors and Hospitols want it approve it support it.
What do they know?

It must be sad for someone like Gerry to never have an original thought. Just listen to the party line and defend it vigorously no matter what.

3 year old boys are already covered under VA's FAMIS program. Up to 18 years old (as well as pregnant women) with income up to 210% of poverty level (~$46K/ for a family of 4).

As Warner notes in the article "So we worked with the House leadership, passed something called FAMIS — we put a Virginia stamp on it — and ended up getting national recognition when we signed up 98 percent of all kids,” he added."

It doesn't. There's little to no 'economy of scale' for healthcare beyond having a large enough population in an area to support more advanced facilities and equipment. Beyond that, everything increases cost with greater use.

I guess that's why more and more aren't accepting Medicare/Medicaid patients.

Your post is indecipherable. Can you please rewrite this in English? And make sure you're talking about Medicaid, not Medicare.
