buying out of state car

Does anyone know how to legally drive a used car home from Florida back to Fairfax County. How does that work if you don't have plates and arent able to register it in advance. But I would have insurance. So is there some type of permit or anything that would allow that and be legal to drive all the way back up here.

I believe this has been covered before. You may be able to get temporary tags through the DMV website..

You can get a 3-day one-way permit from DMV to drive the car from place of purchase to your home. You can print it off the "dmvnow" website, but you will need the VIN. The pass will cost you $5

Also, there's 2 states you should NEVER buy a used car! FL and NJ.

Why those two states in particular? Are they more likely than others to have flood damage (which should be detectable in a close inspection)? More fraud? Lax laws about titles? Nobody should buy a used car from anywhere without having a mechanic look at it and getting the reports from BOTH Carfax and Autocheck.

I would be getting the car checked out, but what about taking longer than the 3 day limit of the trip permit, for example you wanted to take 5 days? Anyone know if there is an option for that?

The only thing that showed up when I did a carfax was the last 2 owners names,it never mentioned the accident the car had been in. There are thousands of brand new sandy damaged cars.

Carfax is bullshit. A lot of the stuff isn't even on there. My car has been in 3 wrecks and for fun I ran it's Carfax. None of the wrecks came up on there.

OP is probably running drugs from FL to VA. I-95 between here and Miami is a major drug pipeline.

Hello! The Vin is the identifier of every car, which is almost impossible to forge. It is not difficult to check the presence of a Vin code. I checked the vin decoder of the car using https://epicvin.com/vin-decoder/harley-davidson . You can use the Vin code to check your car for registration bans and restrictions.
