What parts of Northern Virginia are gang strongholds? I heard Baileys Crossroads is a big MS-13 holdout..just curious.

Sterling seems to have a lot of gang violence. A year ago there were a couple of drive by shootings.

The Great Falls Goons and McLean Mafia are the reasons behind the precipitous drop in property values in the Dranesville District.

There are gangs throughout the county. They generally leave ordinary people alone so far, but I'm sure that will change if we make cut backs in police.

There has been a long history of gang involvement in NOVA. I would say that the real gang violence started back in the 1980’s with Asian gangs. But when the 1990’s started to roll around, then you start to get Latino gang members. There have been countless lives lost to the madness of violence in Fairfax County, and other places like Alexandria, Prince William, and other parts. In the 2000’s, there was an increase in the number of murders, crimes, and violence contributed to gangs. The media, has always painted the picture of gang violence in Northern VA, as being a Latino problem. On the other hand, there are other gangs, from many different descents, that have committed the same crimes as others. No and days, you still have areas that are still hang outs for gangs. Like Culmore, Seven Corners, Lincolnia, parts of Annandale. I feel that the issues about gangs and violence are one for the people of the community to fix. Gang’s exist because of communities and families that have given up on our youth. Instead of locking every single kid up, that we see, we should try to walk in there shoes, and help them out. Sooner or later, if we keep locking up our youth, and ignoring the social ills of NOVA, we are going to see more violence, more crime, and more live lost. From experience, I know that these young men and women can change. We just need to have open hearts and minds to help them.

in my old neighborhood the Rollin 360's used to throw down and break dance fight the Pink Panthers of Peyton place over at the Dennys on 29. It was pretty scary man.

I live in Bailey's Crossroads, so I'm curious, too!

I don't see anything just walking and driving around the
residential and commercial areas, but I suppose it could
be right under my nose.

Maybe it stays on particular streets I never walk down?

You're just phoning it in. But it seems no one's bothering to pick up on the other end.

If you live in an area like Baileys or Hybla Valley, you're more likely to see the gang tags from MS13 or SSL. Most of the crap is indecipherable but it's aggravating and makes the neighborhood look like shit.In Culmore they hit all the box trucks and the apartments over off of Knollwood.Of course if you live in Lake Barcroft there's no reason to even turn down some of these streets but it's there.

The Vietnamese gangs of the 80's were supposed to be the huge threat to society but the community is much smaller than the Salvadorans and most of them have grown up and just want to gamble or eat pho up at Eden Center now. The latino gangs have a lot more criminal stuff going.

I don't want to talk immigration here, but ICE should know the difference between the illegals who are just here to pluck chickens etc. and the gangbangers who are slicing each other with machetes over some petty slight.
