Panini's mommy didn't hold him enough. That's why he kicks onside kicks with 25-30 point leads.

Projected Powerpoints standing at the end of the regular season based upon my projected winners over the next 2 week. If LB could manage to upset SOCO Westfield would pass Centreville as the #1 seed.

1 Centreville 35.44 8 1
2 Westfield 35.4 9 1
3 South County 34.5 10 0
4 Battlefield 33.3 9 1
5 W Springfield 31.5 8 2
6 Patriot 31.4 8 2
7 Hayfield 31.5 7 3
8 Lake Braddock 31.3 7 3
9 Yorktown 29.8 7 3
10 Robinson, J 28 6 4
11 Chantilly 28 5 5
12 Annandale 27.4 6 4
13 Mclean 27.3 6 4
14 Madison, J 27.3 6 4
15 Jackson, S 27.1 5 5
16 Herndon 26.6 5 5

You must have W&L losing to both Wakefield and Yorktown otherwise Centreville would be at 35.67 or 35.89. I have Westfield at 35.3 with a SC victory and 35.4 with a LB victory. Don't see Westfield passing them unless they lose to Robinson.

Would you mind posting the complete standings, all the way down to #26 in your projections? I'd like to see who is on the bubble and how much they missed making the playoffs.

Westfield projected opponent's record: 57-42
8 6A wins times 26 = 208
1 5A wins times 24 = 24
1 6A loss times 14 = 14
50 wins by defeated teams times 2 = 100
7 wins by LB times 7 = 7
208+24+14+100+7 = 353 / 10 = 35.3
Add 1 win by LB over SC = 354 / 35.4

It may not come down to this since I think that W&L is pretty good and may win one or both of their last two games.

I can't disagree that it is unfair to Westfield but Centreville gets an advantage under the VHSL Powerpoints by not playing a game. Because the VHSL does not give points for playing private schools and it does not count against you either they benefit from not having points in a week and having their score divided by 9 vice 10. If they had played TC Williams as originally scheduled they would have a 34.5 rating and be behind Westfield.

I do have W&L losing both game. Not saying I am right, those are what I thought might happen.

Here are all 26 according to my picks.. (Small change as I can't seem to sort in Excel correctly Hayfield 31.5 is ahead of Patriot 31.4) I also am not sure what the proper tie break procedure would be if Powerpoints are tied. I figured no head to head it would then go to overall record followed by record against common opponents.

1 Centreville 35.44 8 1
2 Westfield 35.4 9 1
3 South County 34.5 10 0
4 Battlefield 33.3 9 1
5 W Springfield 31.5 8 2
7 Hayfield 31.5 7 3
6 Patriot 31.4 8 2
8 Lake Braddock 31.3 7 3
9 Yorktown 29.8 7 3
10 Robinson, J 28 6 4
11 Chantilly 28 5 5
12 Annandale 27.4 6 4
13 Mclean 27.3 6 4
14 Madison, J 27.3 6 4
15 Jackson, S 27.1 5 5
16 Herndon 26.6 5 5
17 Washington Lee 26.4 5 5
18 Oakton 25.9 4 6
19 Fairfax 25.5 5 5
20 W Potomac 25.4 4 6
21 Langley 23.7 4 6
22 Osburn 23.6 3 7
23 Woodson, WT 23.6 3 7
24 Williams, TC 22 2 8
25 South Lakes 21.6 2 8
26 Osburn Park 19.6 0 10

I think you are missing a single point in your 353 calculation. They have a total of 108 bonus points. In week 6 Westfield played 5A Stone Bridge and since this was a non-district/conference game they are awarded a single additional bonus point for playing a lower classification team. (100 for wins, 7 for LB loss and 1 for the 5A game) Which puts them at the 35.4 that I currently have them at. If in fact LB can manage to beat SOCO this week they would then be at 35.5 and overtake Centreville as I indicated in my original post.

This. Its pathetic. I have also heard referees talking at a JV game and it seems FauxCo has a reputation amongst the officials.

A lot of people on here were clowning w Springfield and their HC and now they'll be the 5th seed. Easily could be the #1 seed if they didn't schedule Centreville and instead played a d5 team that was decent. Those prince Wiy lliams teams (battlefield and patriot) need to play someone. They have too many jokers on their schedule.

They both lost to Hylton but Hylton lost to Stonewall, go figure. They need somebody else in that conference, just five teams now, but the 10 PW schools plus Osbourne make a full 10 game schedule. The western schools want out of the South but it isn't going to happen. Herndon wants out of Concorde.

Did it ever occur to anybody here that maybe SoCo onside kicks as often as it does to 1) Get it on film, if you notice they run a lot of different onside kicks 2) It's actually smart football, think long game with me, by running so many onside kicks and trick plays/fake punts, you force teams to waste more time preparing for it rather than focusing on offense and defense. In the long run this leads to teams being less prepared for you than you are for them, advantage SoCo.

As for the JV team they may not have a proven kicker on the team, should have found one by now I will concede that point, and all they have left to do is onside and sky kicks. Everyone is all caught up in being butt hurt SoCo onside kicks a lot but take minute and think about the overall strategy for it and you might come to a different conclusion.

Strategy might be to have a short kick to minimize a run back and they know that they can get the ball back after three downs against the teams they are playing

at lower levels, yeah, I can see that.

At the Varsity level, when you have a kicker that can put it down field and even into the endzone, an onside kick with a 30 pt lead is just screaming "F U" across the field.

From what i heard from a few players, Cville's defense is the least of their problems but haddock wanted to change it. Neff (the defensive co) said no and got fired.

Sounds like the coach's office is what's divided.

Neff no longer appears on any of their websites. It's as if he was a Cold War Soviet leader that's just been erased from teh pictures.

Who fires their D Coordinator after shutting our 4 opponents, holding high scoring Hayfield's offense to 18 and only giving up significant scores to talented Gonzaga and rival Westfield all without superstar RB/DB Turner. Who? Someone who thinks it was "all them" that won it all. Me, me, me, by my self, Say it with your Chest!!!!

This would shake things up a little bit and cause the following to be the top 16:

1 Centreville 35.44 8 1
2 Westfield 35.4 9 1
3 South County 34.5 10 0
4 Battlefield 33.3 9 1
5 W Springfield 31.5 8 2
7 Hayfield 31.5 7 3
6 Patriot 31.4 8 2
8 Lake Braddock 31.3 7 3
9 Yorktown 30 7 3
10 Chantilly 28.2 5 5
11 Robinson, J 28 6 4
12 Annandale 27.4 6 4
13 Madison, J 27.3 6 4
14 Jackson, S 27.1 5 5

Herndon not beating Oakton. Chantilly not beating Robinson. Agree with Langley beating Mclean.

Lots of talk on CVille, WF and SC. What happened to the Robinson QB, Rowlett? Based on Gameday, they mentioned 'Good Luck in spring LaCrosse' Out for the season?

Out for the season. However no excuse to lose to oakton 7-0.

This is not good for Cville on the verge of trying to repeat. Season ends next week. However their dline is so talented that they may be able to overcome it. Their defensive scheme is man free. That's not something they want to run against the beach schools. Too much speed

Braddock has finally started to get some of the injured players back in the line up and are starting to click. They have been hit pretty hard with injuries the last 4 weeks. Players coming back and players who have been playing injured are now starting to heal.

A healthy Braddock team could make a run in the playoffs, better beware!!!

Interesting night of football. So looks like Centreville will be top seed, Westfield 2 and LB 3. After that not sure. But keep in mind below is the playoff bracket format - so Centreville would not see LB or Westfield until the final. Possible Westfield-LB playoff rematch.

No dog in the fight, looked like LB had a good game plan and won. SOCO shot themselves in the foot with turnovers, QB forced a couple throws while LB had no answer for the SOCO rb #2. Better not sleep on either of these 2 teams

Ranking after Week 10:

1. Centreville (only because a: they are the defending 6A North champs and b: if Turner, Tutt and Boose are all healthy they are hands down the team to beat)
2. Westfield (very close second, they beat Centreville and if you look at games against common opponents - Hayfield, Herndon, Oakton - their performance is right in line with Centreville. Unlike last year)
3. Lake Braddock (impressive wins over Westfield and SoCo, knew I had them ranked too low last week)
4. Battlefield (ahead of SoCo because I think they are a more disciplined team with a better defense)
5. South County (doubters were right, so far... SoCo will have a chance in the playoffs)
6. Patriot (kinda reminds me of South County)

Realistically, you gotta think the 6A North champion will come from this group. South County (62) and Patriot (66) have both had games this year where they let up over 60 points. Something tells me no team that has done that is going to the state championship game.

I will give Patriot credit though since their loss was to Hylton, who will contend for the South region champion.

1)Centreville if healthy
2)westfields
3)LB, SC, battlefield, WS, hayfield
9)patriot

Unfortunately Robinson is done due to their health

LBvSC game was pretty intense in the first half. SC overwhelmed LB early but credit LB with regrouping and playing a very impressive game. They would have beat almost anyone last night. QB did it all with very few mistakes.

WS is a wild card. Great defense being able to hold LB and Centreville to 14 and 24 points respectively. WS offense was abysmal but looked good against LB with the refs calling back some scores. They may have the next D1 Qb out of this area who is a sophomore that looks the part.

Agreed robo is done unfortunately. From what I've seen LB basically became a completely different team after the loss to WS. So much so that I would dare to say WS is very lucky they got out with a win on that night. Bruins might put up 70 on them. Soco is a sloppy team and turnovers/penalties shouldn't be a surprise to all those that picked them favorably (they average 5 TOs and 10 penalties anyway) not really like they gave the game away they just gave Kyle Edwards (Lake Braddock QB) more opportunities to score on them. They couldn't stop him at all. 7 total TDs.......you're saying the WS kid is D1? Didn't he get dismantled by soco? Annandale will give soco a run for their money, ROBO AND WS WILL LOSE FIRST ROUND
As for the concord, does Oakton get in this year? Who's the king of the Concorde? Will AJ turner ever return?

WS has 2 Soph QBs and both have improved since the sc game.
WS is not the same team as last year and should have a good seed in first round.

To be honest the game on friday was pretty hard to watch. Soco's offense was good in the beginning, #2 Huett is a beast on the field, and Avery was doing good too...except the junior QB clayton seemed shaky and had multiple opportunities to run the ball and seemed uncomfortable the entire game, they shouldve put back up sophomore QB in earlier because when he came in he moved the offense faster. The defense was terrible and let touchdown after touchdown, only a couple of good plays here and there. There must have been 7 fumbles through the game, and so many penalties and turnovers. South County is a good team, but they often play such easy teams (for example last week Woodson when it was 62-0 before halftime) that do not prepare them for teams like Westfield and Centreville. They have the pieces and potential to push far in the play-offs, but to win states? They would have to work extremely hard, especially on defense. South county still could go far though..

LB had their chance and got beat by WS. Didn't WS just beat up on Annandale? I don't think ScvAtoms will be close. However Annandale has improved.

SCvWS was week one. If I'm not mistaken they started the other sophomore. Have you seen the kid play recently? As you can see both teams are different now. "Playoff predictor" hope your here in a few weeks to back up your first round exit.

It is lining up for a 2nd round rematch for L.B vs. Soco
Soco cleans up the turn overs and they may, I repeat may have a shot. L.B. favored by 8 points if the game happens.

round2 could be fun...Cville vs Hayfield, Soco vs LB, WF vs Patriot, Battlefied vs WS if things hold to form....two rematches, could go either way

Can you calculate based on Patriot beating Battlefield?

If Patriot beats Battlefield they swap places and no other positions are affected. However if Patriot beats Battlefield and Oakton beats Herndon then there is a 3 way tiefor 6-8 between WS, Battlefield and Hayfield. (keep in mind I am unsure of the tie breaker rules for seeding and I applied overall record as the first tie breaker in any tied powerpoints.)

1 Centreville 35.66666667 8 1
2 Westfield 35.5 9 1
3 Patriot 33.3 9 1
4 Lake Braddock 33.3 8 2
5 South County 32.7 9 1
6 W Springfield 31.6 8 2
7 Battlefield 31.4 8 2
8 Hayfield 31.4 7 3
9 Yorktown 30 7 3
10 Washington Lee 28.2 6 4
11 Chantilly 28.1 5 5
12 Robinson, J 28 6 4
13 Mclean 27.6 6 4
14 Annandale 27.4 6 4
15 Jackson, S 27.1 5 5
16 Herndon 26.6 5 5
17 Madison, J 25.8 5 5
18 Oakton 25.5 4 6
19 W Potomac 25.5 4 6
20 Fairfax 25.4 5 5
21 Langley 25.3 5 5
22 Osburn 23.6 3 7
23 Woodson, WT 22.4 2 8
24 Williams, TC 22.2 2 8
25 South Lakes 21.7 2 8
26 Osburn Park 19.6 0 10

Recalculate football guy….I have neither PWC passing Braddock for 3rd. Using directions from VHSL site. Where is my error??? If you are correct would that lock in the Patriot schools at 4,5, and 6 if they win since the PWC school that wins is 3rd? Why do I keep getting LB 6 points more than Battlefield if both win?? Help me Bro

I am wondering about the top 2 seeds. I believe my calculations have Cville and WF are the only two that can end in those positions, win or lose. Also, if they both win, (and assuming LB and Stone Bridge win), Cville needs 2 of 3 teams, West Po, West Springfield or WL to win. Does that seem right?

Looks like the LB win v SC locked westfields at #1. At the end of the day Cville lost twice and once to a conference opponent. They should be the #2 seed.

You are right, when I cut and pasted the results I had failed to return some what if scenarios back to the way the games should go this week. There is an outside chance for Westfield to overtake Centreville but it would require 2 of WP, WS or W&L to lose while LB and SB both win. I think the LB and SB both win but I am not sure that 2 of the other 3 lose. Below is the corrected version.

1 Centreville 35.8 8 1
2 Westfield 35.5 9 1
3 Lake Braddock 33.3 8 2
4 Battlefield 33.1 9 1
5 South County 32.7 9 1
6 W Springfield 31.4 8 2
7 Hayfield 31.4 7 3
8 Patriot 31.2 8 2
9 Washington Lee 29.8 7 3
10 Yorktown 28.4 6 4
11 Chantilly 28.3 5 5
12 Robinson, J 27.9 6 4
13 Annandale 27.6 6 4
14 Oakton 27 5 5
15 Jackson, S 26.9 5 5
16 Langley 26.8 6 4
17 Mclean 26.1 5 5
18 Madison, J 25.8 5 5
19 W Potomac 25.7 4 6
20 Fairfax 25.5 5 5
21 Herndon 24.9 4 6
22 Osburn 23.4 3 7
23 Woodson, WT 22.5 2 8
24 Williams, TC 22 2 8
25 South Lakes 21.7 2 8
26 Osburn Park 19.5 0 10

One of those CVille losses do not count. They only have 1 loss in the VHSL eyes

Rumor is true Coach Adam Neff was let go after a heated disagreement between himself and Head Coach Chris Haddock. Many players are still in the dark about what caused the arguement. Coach Mathie will be taking over the duties vacant by Coach Neff.

Could Adam Neff go to another school say south county for the rest of the season?

I see no reason why he couldn't do something to that effect. I believe his contract would have to be officially terminated, meaning the AD would have had to sign off on the firing....I think.
