What happened to Woodson? I thought they were much better after the Oakton game. Is Robinson that good or is Woodson still terrible? I was told that Robinson was going to be down this year.

Hayfield looses tough first game and gets Westfield and Centreville back to back this week and next. looks like a probable 0-3 start again and key game soon after with Yorktown who just crushed Langley. Hayfield has a good team but going into the playoffs at 6-4 will probably give them a tough first round matchup in the playoffs. Yorktown is a must win game. I am sure other teams will now start focusing there coverage on our big weapon Tyler Hodge and blitz our QB who looked really good when he had time.I know Westfield will cover Hodge with D1 safety Gibson and blitz our young QB.

Hayfield played nearly even with Westfield for 4 out of the 8 quarters they played them last year. But they faded off in the second half of both games.

Should be an interesting indication of where Westfield is at for the 2014 season. To me they looked about the same as the 2013 team in the opener Friday against South Lakes. Stronger on offense (better passing game) - perhaps slightly weaker on defense (D-line didn't look as strong).

No one cares about Hayfield. They must think they are the same caliber as the schools mentioned. One of their coaches just has to keep posting here. Thats their way of staying relevant.

Well, a state finals appearance a few years ago.

Not saying that has anything to do with this year though. On that same note...why do you mention Robinson and Oakton? How long ago were their championships? Are there any players on the team now that had anything to do with those past teams? Do those past teams make this year's team deserve more respect?

Three straight playoff appearances with new coach and smallest enrollment in the conference. Seemingly always a rebuilding year, yet seems to hold theire own....even against LB.

Well since you brought us into this - 2012 Northern Region Champs, seniors now were sophomores then, your move SOCO. Before you say, "They didn't make the playoffs last year.", I will take one down year and one championship year over what you got SOCO.....

Haha, not butthurt, just putting things into perspective. Curious, why not question Westfields last state title too? That was 2007. You bring up Oakton and Robinson....why? BTW Go Madison!!!

The poster above my original statement was the one that brought up Oakton, Robinson, and Westfield. Their question was 'what has Soco ever done, and they used those teams as examples of schools that 'have' won championships.

And in my mind, championships are state titles... so I was simply answering them that Soco got there at least in 2011 (not to mention beating Stone Bridge and Yorktown along the way). That's all.

Not questioning the other school's achievements -- just thought it was funny that those schools get to hold on to their credit for winning a long time ago, while South County has been there just as long ago, if not more recently (though they lost). It's been a while since Robinson went all the way, yet people will still lump today's team with the past winners. By that logic, Annandale should be great this year since they won two titles in the mid 90's.

Robinson led the whole game and really dominated the first half and half of the third quarter. Then they did everything they could to try to give this game to LB. Very frustrating to watch. lots of stupid mistakes. They hung on though. Robinson seems to be a solid team this year, but they need to play aggressively and smartly all four quarters to keep winning in the conference.

South County has a complete lack of discipline. In the first three games they have had 35 penalties accepted for 418 yards- that is an average of nearly 12 a game and 140 yards. They have had 7 TD's called back by penalty- 5 in the victory over Mt Vernon. Their very talented linebacker (#54) has over 10 penalties in 3 games and over half of those have been for unsportsmanlike conduct. Good player but out of control and the coaches don't do a thing. But it starts at the top- when players are allowed to cuss out coaches wo reprimand then things get out of hand. The head coach waits for the home team to come out first on away games to include the Mt Vernon game this past Friday. The team missed the National Anthem bc they were still in the locker room. What kind of leadership and respect is that? Furthermore, they do a fake field goal up 40-6 and then do an onside kick up 53-6 with 2 minutes to go with the majority of first string still in. Cant wait until they play a real team and their undisciplined style costs them a game or two.

Kick off at MV was at 7:30 SOCO was on the field by 7;25 National anthem was at 7:15 so yes they did miss it but usually national anthem is at 7:25 for 7;30 kickoff. IN MV game it was obvious the refs did not like SOCO for some reason. I tend to agree. Patriot got owned by a mediocre Robinson team in the playoffs last year. Until they prove otherwise posers is a good word for PWC football.

I don't want to agree with you, but I do. I don't know which Fairfax team will show up -- the one that played stout defense against West PO, or the one with the explosive offense against Woodson. I'm not saying that Madison WILL win the game, but they definitely CAN.

Top it off with fact that Joe Ferrick is settling in to the CVille offense nicely as QB and you should all be very very afraid. Amongst other things last night he threw a 99 yard bomb to Charles Tutt. Also managing the running game very efficiently. The momentum is building again just like last year.

And by the way with all due respect to them Chantilly is simply not one of the top teams in the NR.

SOCO is a solid team for sure but Chantilly had one of their best RBs out due to injury last week and also lost 2-3 kids during the game last night. And it's a shame refs didn't make some calls because there was a lot of dirty play from SOCO. What is impressive is that they turned the ball over 5 times and still won by that margin! They won't face another quality opponent (LB) though until their 9th game. Schedule looks mighty easy until then. Other than Hayfield and an injury-riddled Chantilly team, SOCO hasn't (and won't) play a caliber team until they lose to Braddock. And they will be exposed during the playoffs.

The game was already way out of reach for Chantilly by the time those injuries happened last night... If you watched that game, there is no way having those guys would have changed anything.

Plus, the only reason Chantilly got near the endzone was off of fumbles or muffed punts. Not because they could drive the ball. SC's defense was solid.

I have no dog in this fight but have seen Centreville, Chantilly, Westfield, Braddock, and SOCO. My thoughts:

Centreville - team to beat, just too much talent and they have not even had some star players play yet. Don't let the loss to Gonzaga fool you.

Braddock, Westfield, SOCO, Robinson - on any given Friday night one of these teams could beat another but I do not think unless something very unforeseen happens any of these teams will derail another Centreville march.

Everyone else are just wannabes...

Depends on what your definition of good is....

Yes Falls Church has been on the upswing last few years and will probably make playoffs and could make a little noise in the 5A class. Good for them.

Now would they stay within 5 touchdowns of Centreville or three or more against Braddock, SOCO, etc. sorry I don't think so - there is a big difference between them and these teams

William Mejia, Troy darling, Brian Eck and Anthony cructchfield from Falls Church are the real deal! People would be surprised to here this, but the past two seasons they have been better than most D6 teams. If it wasnt for a horrendous holding call on a 90yd Dupont KO TD FC would have beaten yorktown last year. I have seen Madison and Oakton play and FC's skill position players are much more athletic and instinctive. Over the past 5 seasons Coach Aziz has done a amazing job of turning these raw athletes into college prospects. He has given them a reason not to transfer to Oakton or Annandale like the old days. The new boundaries also help appeal to parents and students who usually wouldnt consider FC.

Turner is still recovering from surgery on his wrist and will be out for another week at least. Boose is still recovering from dehydration he suffered while playing Gonzaga. I would expect him back soon.

There is no top contender. Only top "pretenders."

Westfield, Robinson, Lake Braddock, South County, Patriot, Battlefield. Those are the top six behind Centreville in 6A North (in no particular order).

But I don't think any of them has a chance to come within 3 TD's of Centreville this year.

Dr. BS,

Boose has missed 2 weeks, not 3 and his dehydration was severe, having to be transported by amblance to the hositpal after the Gonzaga game. He spent the night there getting IV fluids. I heard (2nd hand) his blood counts are still not 100% and he is being held out until there are.

So if he has been out 2 weeks and he is out for another week to recover then that = 3 dumbass.

I heard he was scared of being shut down and looking bad vs Gonzaga. How long does it take for IV fluids to set in? What a chump...

Nobody ever said he was going to be out next week.

But unfortunately for Robinson... Centerville is blowing out teams without AJ Turner, Taylor Boose and Brooks who will all be back for the Robinson game. :(

Who's calling the defense for South County this year? Did they hire from within or is Pannoni doing it himself like he did when he was at Centreville? They seem to be doing much better than last year overall.

You all need to stop sucking of Hayfield, and Tilly, Nothing whatsoever. Also, Lake Braddock lost to Robinson I don't see how LB has more respect and credit than the Rams. SOCO hasn't proven anything yet.

It's a combination of three coaches. Ever since Trey Taylor left for South Lakes they've played much better.

That's largely because of coaching. Tilly has some good talent in skill positions that is going unnoticed. If blocking and play-calling improved they could be much better. WF is not as good as everyone thinks. C-ville will definitely go to States again. Not sure about winning it though ... you can NEVER count out the Hampton Roads teams!

Not sure I agree about Chantilly's skill position talent... other than the QB I didn't really see much there. Just my opinion.

I agree about WF. They just don't seem to have found their way on either offense or defense. They definitely will need to improve significantly to have any chance at a decent playoff run.

Centreville is the slam-dunk 6A state champion. They will roll past any team from the south with ease. And this is not coming from a Centreville fan.

After 4 weeks my 6A North ranking of top teams is:

Centreville #1
Robinson #2
Lake Braddock #3
South County #4
Patriot #5
Battlefield #6
Westfield #7

Very pleased with what Ive seen from my 4-0 Falls Church Jaguars. They just beat Yorktown 28-14. #8 Will Mejia is easily the most underrated player in the region, hes been dominating the competition. Crutchfield and Eck are also excelling. The defense is lights and led by Diaz, rubiez and stephens. The fact that they have beaten 3 D6 teams in their first 4 games is outstanding.

Tired of hearing about how falls church is some underdog team that is amazingly underrated. I've seen your tape, you can't even run the zone read correctly! Your school will be relevant when you have someone other than a dad hyping you up. Knock off a Westfield, Braddock, or Soco and then you can be in the conversation.......... But I don't see that happening this century so just stick to 7v7 lol

A century is a long time...by the time the Asians and Mexicans infiltrate the SC, Braddock and Westfield neighborhoods then FC will be dominate all you jokers. Stick your 7-7 up your hole old man.

Hey,

Keeping it Real, you might be right about us not running the zone read correctly at FC! However, we can run the Zone Read on your old lady all night! Since we only have 1,500 kids in the school, we can only play who they put in front of us.. So please fuck off! And also, for your information most of our kids don't have dads, and if they did have dads they wouldn't know how to use a computer, DICK!

Actually Orphan Annie is wrong about enrollment at FC; it is 1601 but that is understandable because they are a 4 our of 10 on GreatSchools.net for poor test scores. Better quit suckin on momma's teat and get a job loser.

Hey you little bastard,

you do have a Dad; he is called a sperm donor and your mom is needs to quit being a whore.

Its very funny that the FC best excuse for its defense is that they are poor stupid little bastards. You should make up a new uniform with a illiterate kid for a mascot with asthma and maybe get some sympathy for your pitiful no zone read Defense.
