Its election day 2013 and in 11/5/05we lost Link Wray

Fred Lincoln "Link" Wray Jr (May 2, 1929 – November 5, 2005)

Did his music influence Dick Dale?

They were contemporaries. Wray basically invented the power chord and the "overdrive" electric sound, while Dale was an innovator in pick technique, tremolo, and use of scales.

Wray's work is probably more generally influential, because you don't have punk, grunge, etc. without it, but Dale was arguably the more innovative guitarist.

That's too bad, friend of mine I was in a band with played some shows with him for a short time back in the day. Was a big influence on a lot of folks.
