"RICHMOND —The vice chairman of a panel exploring Medicaid reform and expansion in Virginia told fellow House Republicans this week that the program is unlikely to be broadened anytime soon.

It could take months, if not years, to determine if the federal-state health-care program has been sufficiently reformed to merit expansion, Del. Steve Landes (R-Augusta) said in a confidential memo to his caucus. A copy of the memo was obtained by The Washington Post."

Not really surprising. I always wondered why certain fringe Purity Trolls acted like the Governor and Republicans sold out in the budget agreement this spring. (I also was puzzled at why Democrats acted so happy). The structure, set up by Bill Howell (R-Stafford, the House Speaker), was deliberately setup to make expansion unlikely. And were it to occur it would be because GA Republicans wanted it to, regardless of who wins next month. So the idea that the Governor and Republicans "sold out" is ridiculous.
