George Mason University (GMU) is set to offer a three-credit course on Florida youth Trayvon Martin this fall but in the online description of the course misspelled his name as “Trevon Martin."




The class, officially entitled “Race & Politics, Trevon [sic] Martin” in the course catalogue will be taught by Professor Rutledge Dennis of the Sociology and Anthropology Department.

Martin was shot in February 2012 after an altercation with a neighborhood watch member, George Zimmerman, who is currently the subject of a murder trial.

The trial, being held in Florida, has been racially charged due to questions over Zimmerman’s motivations. Zimmerman stated late Wednesday he would not provide testimony, with the jury set to issue a decision later this month.

Dennis will teach the GMU course in a lecture/seminar style on Wednesdays in two and half hour blocks from 4:30-7:10 in Krug Hall on GMU’s main campus.

Professor Dennis and other GMU representatives did not respond to requests for comment by Campus Reform in time for publication.

Looking at race actually makes sense because it's being done so much here and mostly by one-side. At first I thought it was stupid to have that as a focus, but then think about how much you're hearing it and how many stupid people are not even bothering to look at the facts but are using race alone to come to conclusions. I don't understand how they can offer a course on this subject. The case is still being heard in the court, but basically you can break
it down like this:

1. George Zimmerman is not a cop but a neigborhood watch guy.
2. George pursued Trayvon Martin, and this is what resulted in the fight. He had zero authority to do so.
3. George and Trayvon's fight was one on one on the ground.
4. George took his gun and shot Trayvon to death. Trayvon was unarmed.
5. George Zimmerman will probably found guilty of the 2nd degree charge. This is simple case of a gung ho guy thinking he was a cop and got in over his head. Trayvon Martin was no angel but didn't deserve to be followed and shot by some ass neighborhood watch guy.

What is "pursued"?

The testimony I heard was he was watching him to see where he went so he could advise the police. That's a large leap to pursued. Also, there is no evidence that Zim started this fight. There is however evidence (text messages) that Trayvon was a fighter and had been in several.

Only because of this...

1). George is not a cop and was told by the police NOT to pursue.

2). The area where Trayvon was located, wasn't even an area that George Zimmerman was responsible anyway under his Neighborhood Watch program.

3). He pursued Trayvon and was out of breath from chasing after him. He's not a cop and he's chasing after some kid without any authority whatsoever.

4). How is it murder? Good Question. Here's your answer:

5). Because he ran after Trayvon, confronted him, he's not a cop, and has zero authority in the area, George created the incident with Trayvon
and sadly he'll have to pay for it. The bottom line is, law enforcement is for the cops. They're trained to avoid unfortunate situations like
this. George went looking for Trayvon and ran out of his car after that kid. Granted Trayvon's a punk, but hell what would you do if this
happened to you? I can tell you, because I've been in this situation, in Florida, where a neighborhood watch guy almost ran down my friend

From testimony, it appears that Martin struck the first blow. Zimmerman had injuries, Martin had none until the gunshot.

While it was not admitted into evidence, the media has published records of Martin's social media He had been in lots of fights and was into marijuana and guns. He got praise for his fighting skills.

The true criminal in this case is the "child neglect" by his dad. The kid was suspended for at least the third time for various infractions, including possession, fighting, and possession of burglary tools. Yet, the dad took him to Sanford and basically gave him a nice vacation. Didn't appear to be much supervision. He didn't even look for him until long after he was killed.

Had it been my kid, he certainly would not have had the kind of freedom his dad gave him after all the trouble he had been in.

I don't think that Trayvon would necessarily have grown up to be a bad guy. Zimmerman, at that moment in time, didn't have time to cannot consider that though.
