Where to obtain sandbags

There is a risk of yet another tropical storm coming this weekend. We got some water last time - courtesy of Hannna.

Any idea where you can buy or obtain free sandbags? We need probably about 20 as the repairs that we've contracted for are not due to start until 1st week of October...

Only place I have even heard about giving them away was in Old Town Alexandria a few years ago. Not sure if you are going to have too much luck getting them around here.

Try calling Ranger Surplus. I have seen them in stock before
and they are very cheap.

if you truly need them why dont you use a little ingenuity and make them yourself? it's a crazy concept i know! sand and pillowcases are pretty hard to come by.

Bob, you must be one strong dude to handle pillow cases full of sand.
As a "sandbag expert", I prefer the more standard military size. You
wont be exhausted so quickly. Also, burlap allows for better drainage
when they are wet.
