Walmart at Kingstowne was putting some out along with .223, .40, and some others last night when I was there late but I'm sure that it's all gone by now. Talking to the guy stocking, you need to be there when they open at 6:00 am; otherwise, it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll be looking at bare shelves.

I've found some reasonably priced ammo at VA Gun Trader:

http://www.vaguntrader.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/forum_summary

Also some folks are trying to sell too high, so know what the fair price is for what you're looking to buy. After all, Obama lost on gun control and supply, as well as prices, will normalize over time.

Nation's Gun Show June 7.8&9. Obama has 3-1/2 years left in office and they're sore losers. They will be severely restricting imports and harassing gun dealers. Look upon this current lull as a tremendous buying opportunity.

Go to the next chantilly gun show and buy as much as you can.
Soon....you wont be able to get ammo at all.

You see, that is what monkey obama did in chicago. He taxed and regulated ammo out of the reach of law abiding citizens.
The good thin is, all of obamas monkey brothers are still killing each other with reckless abandon right in his former nieghborhood.

Because I just bough a M&P 9mm over the weekend and could only find ammo at the NRA range. Unfortunatly, even the NRA range is limiting ammo sales and I was only able to buy one box.

Good news though. I just bought 450 rounds of Federal on gunbroker for $160. Pretty sweet deal. :)

Good news if you only intend to shoot at pieces of paper. What is your intent Sir. The reason of concern is most shooters stick to gun forums and not local forums.

Everyone makes mistakes......

I recently purchased an M&P 9mm. I have been teaching my girlfriend to shoot, and she was learning on my Walther P22, my 1911, a friends Glock, and my XDm. After showing a reasonable amount of proficiency, I decided to buy her very own gun for her. She is 4'10" and has pretty small mitts, and after trying out a variety of guns, she felt that the M&P fit her hands the best. I had done some research on the internet, and found pretty mixed reviews about the gun, which made me a bit hesitant, but Smith and Wesson seems to have pretty reliable customer service. Although I found it depressing, ( I wanted her to get an XD ) I caved and purchased the Smith and Wesson.

I took it home and taught my girlfriend how the gun functioned, and how to properly field strip it, and clean/lube it.
I took the gun to the range the next day. We were shooting 9mm military ball ammo. I've fired this ammo thru all kinds of pistols (Berettas, XD's, Glocks...you name it) without a problem. The first round thru the M&P resulted in a failure to extract. As did the second, third, and every other successive round. The expended brass stayed in the chamber, and the slide would push the next round into the ass end of the first round.
Needless to say, I was less than thrilled. This occured with both magazines. Also, 90% of the time, loading a magazine forcefully into the pistol with the slide locked back resulted in the slide coming forward and loading a round, without touching the slide release. This has never happened with my XDm, but I've experienced it with Beretta's, and once with a Glock. On one occasion, I also had the slide fail to lock back on an expended magazine.
After 8 magazines of being extremely frustrated and shooting a semi automatic one shot at a time, the failure to extract problem started clearing up. The last 2 magazines resulted in ONLY 2 malfunctions per 17 round magazine. Out of 170 rounds fired...I never got thru a magazine without a malfunction.

The next day I purchased 50 rounds of CCI Blazer Brass in an effort to determine if it was simply the ammunition that the pistol disliked. The pistol fired properly thru all 50 rounds, though I still experienced the problem with the slide coming forward when loading a magazine.

On the upside...I have to agree with my girlfriend when it comes to the ergonomics of the M&P. I have rather small hands as well, (I use the smallest backstrap on my XDm) and the feel of the pistol is spot on. The reach to the trigger and the handle is very comfortable, and pointing/aiming the weapon is very natural feeling. Much more so than the Glocks, and arguably, even more so than my XDm...which I hate to admit.
The trigger pull is somewhat quirky, and I've read that the pistol requires a "break in" for it to even out and become consistent. That sounded kinda retarded to me, but it turns out to be true.
The pistol is easy to shoot, and pretty accurate. I could keyhole rounds at 10 meters, and at fifteen meters I was shooting a 2 inch hole in a 3 inch dot without trying too hard.
So...basically the pistol was a blast to shoot...When it actually fired.

So, the bottom line is...I would never rely on this gun for self defense. But that's not what I bought this gun for. It's fun to shoot but certainly picky about ammo. I thought about sending the gun back to Smith and Wesson, but I think I'll experiment with different ammunition some more. If Smith and Wesson built this weapon to compete with Glock and XDs, then they have achieved failure of epic proportions because it doesn't compare in my opinion. Even without the failure to extract issue, the slide going into battery when loading a magazine is enough to piss me off. I didn't buy it with the expectation that it would outshoot my XD or a Glock, but I certainly didn't think it would be a POS right out of the box.

I dunno...I have pretty mixed emotions about the gun. I'll fire it some more, and then do a follow up.
If anyone else has had issues like this, then drop me a line.

I bought a M&P22lr last year as something to go to the range that wouldn't cost me tons to shoot like going with my glock was starting to. This was before ammo went scarce and was just getting expensive. The ergonomics of the gun are really nice, and they do kind of make me want to get a bigger version. It feels more like a real gun than a ruger or beretta neos or things of that nature. Everyone who has shot it loves it.

The 22 does seem to be a little picky with ammo though, if I buy super cheap ammo it tends not to cycle the slide. Works great with any CCI, and golden bullets work wonderfully even though they are a little dirty. Federal bulk ammo tends to cause issues at times, but will work somewhat reliably.

Nice to see I've developed a posse of troll-fans.

No need to live in parent's basement, since my father passed away and mom is in one of those age restricted communities. My military retirement and second career here in NOVA provide for me and my family nicely, thank you.

How else could I buy all those guns, and my motorcycle that Kilton hates so vehemently.

Looking for a SUV, which one is better, Lexus, Mercedes or BMW? Was thinking of a Volvo, but understand they're pulling out of the US market.

Someone posted their dreams and aspirations on a gun thread.

You won't find a Lexus on the side of the road. All their engines are N/A, very well built Toyota engines. Now as for the German cars... make sure your shovel and cell phone are handy at all times. Infiniti/Acura/Lexus if you want a reliable luxury car. They're not quite as refined as the German cars, but you won't have to worry about riding in taxi cabs and dealer loaners on a regular basis.

You are not married and never served in the military, Dane.

So did anyone go to the Chantilly show? Was there copius ammo at bargain prices?

I went. Lots of ammo and guns. Ammo was over priced. I have heard the dealers raised prices because people were still buying the ammo at the high starting price. Gun prices were all over the place. Some dealers were way over priced while some were reasonably priced. I have heard over all sales on guns were very slow due to the high prices.

If I want to get fleeced, I'll hit the Paper Moon. The gun shows have nothing but profiteering, gouging dealers who all voted for Obama in the expectation of enormous profits for themselves.

Only losers and wannabes attend gun shows. The put on their best gunshow clothes and George Zimmerman smiles. Also weight the same.

Since Obama became president all the guns and ammo in the US have been completely sold out nobody has been able to make any more.

With so many guns and so much ammo in Virginia, where are all the dead people? All the blood in the streets? All the gunshots every night? There has to be far more here than in DC, NY and Chicago since all that is so tightly controlled there and thus, fewer firearms and ammo in those places than in Va or FFX Co. Virginia is even blamed as the source of the gun violence in DC and NYC! So why aren't FFX County youth dropping like flies on the streets from the abundance of guns here?

Shame Sandy Hook didn't have armed security. CT, NY, DC, Chicago, toughest gun laws in the nation...don't work do they?

That's exactly what the liberals think. They will never say it and instead legislate and regulate guns away from everyone, except their own who have enough money to buy their right to possess. You see it in DC and NY now, particularly with the celebrities. They want to live in a city and know they live among the "savages" and have to protect themselves--but Zim can't do that and he voted for Obama--f everyone else except the lib elite. And the working liberals call republicans "sheeple"...

McAuliffe, McDonnell, Cuccinelli, Bob Filner, Weiner, Spitzer, Graham, name your own...the party doesn't matter. It's the career politicians who are the problem and making you fight among yourselves, keeping them in power and getting your tax money. You're ALL sheeple.

NRA range - They limit you to four boxes. Or you can visit the gun show. 9mm ammo at the gun show was around 45-50 a box. I purchase at the NRA range for 14 for a box of 50 (ball ammo)

You should have been stocking. Now all you can do is practice pistol whipping.
