This site was just transitioned to a new server.

Everything SHOULD function as it always has, except faster.

The wiki is broken for now, expect it to come back to life later today.

Please test everything and reply here if you find any problems. Absent any serious glithces I'll be turning on various modules over the next 48 hours to expand some functionality.

A full writeup of all the changes is coming, but sleep takes priority right now.

Okay, almost everything came over cleanly except it seems there are random posts that are completely missing.

I have backups of everything so I'll be investigating how this corruption occurred and repairing it.

Also, the Pictures/Videos and Links button in the top menubar doesn't work because they're part of the wiki that's still broken. After I fix the post corruption issue I'll be working on those.

All of the transition trouble has been resolved. The posts that were previously missing have been recovered (it was a UTF-8 vs iso-8859-1 charset issue if anyone wants to know) and the Wiki functionality has been restored.

There have been changes to this website! The current list of changes is as follows:

- Forum software "phorum" upgraded from version 5.1.7-RC1 to 5.2.8. Changelog here: http://www.phorum.org/changelog-5.txt
- New button added to main page "Mark all forums read" This will remove the "new" flags from all posts server-wide. It is only available on the main "forum list" page
- Show all pages functionality. There is a new link added to every thread to show All pages instead of selecting from page 1, 2, etc. This "All" link will only show up for threads with less than 1,000 posts.
- Non-ARIN IP ranges blocked from posting! Because of proxy network abuses I have blocked all IP ranges that do not originate from North America from posting. If you are a resident living abroad, or need a specific IP address unblocked please let me know and I will certainly make an exception. All IP addresses from the APNIC AfriNIC RIPE and LACNIC regional registries have been banned. These IP addresses can still read the forums, however.

I will continue to expand functionality over the next couple days, watch this thread for updates.

I'm seeing new behavior in the RSS feed... before it would present newest posts in the reader, but now it just links threads that have an update in them. Kind of hard to describe and the behavior seen will look different depending on the RSS reader used... I'm using Opera Mini on a Blackberry.

If there's a "threads" vs "posts" option somewhere in phorum for the RSS presentation then that's likely it.

I have been exceptionally tolerant with you over the past 6 months as I am with all the trolls here. I have been extending the olive branch of diplomacy when you have long since declared war (by purchasing accounts on private proxy server networks, etc.) and for this I feel like a fool.

The grounds for moderation are very minimal and yet you have consistently disobeyed them. Personal attacks on other posters will not be tolerated. And in your honor I will now add one more rule to the board:

Had I not seen conclusive evidence that you are in fact a resident of Northern Virginia I would have been done with you long ago. It would be trivial to write a script that waits for you to post and then deletes that post and bans the IP address you posted from.

Cary, I'm noticing a problem with the unread message feature in the General forum. The Forum List page (index.php) is not showing a "new" message flag. But, when I go into the general forum (2.html), the "FFX Animal Shelter" thread is marked as having new messages. For some reason, that's not appearing on the main page.

Just thought I'd point this out.

I'll probably be setting the thread view counts to "once per IP address" soon, although it'll add extra strain on the server having to keep a list of all IPs that have ever viewed each thread.

You didn't add much strain to the server, but you did pull down a good 6GB in traffic. A drop in the bucket compared to how much bandwidth this server has available, but it would be pretty bad if more people started abusing it.

Also, on the whole Alias/Milk Toast thing,
I said that I would reveal his identity if he posted again, and he did, but his final post was a very appropriate and almost touching farewell, and it wouldn't be fair to reveal his identity because of that.

My threat certainly still stands, and I do intend to make good on it if he ever returns, but hopefully he will not and the mystery will linger.

I beg to differ regarding you statement but unless you are a moron or blind you overlooked the previous post to this one where I notified you of some problems I was experiencing with posts of mine being deleted altered and impersonated. How you can then turn around and say everything is running smoothly without addressing these issues is beyond me. Except for the fact that this does prove you are ignoring my issues, haven't followed up with my emails to you or responded to these posts here I directed to you supporting my claims that you don't exist as a separate reponsible identity,..thank you for this confirmation, at least.
