The bloated budget is going to be approved soon. We better hope the Supervisors will hold ground instead of holding residents hostage to pay the tax bill.

Bets on any reductions in the FCPS budget being proposed by the members Fairfax County School Board? Most members are spineless in the face of Jack Dale's appetite for more money to deliver flat achievement and a watered down curriculum.

In a time of tight budgeting just over .5% of FCPS is raking in almost $24 million in salary alone which is probably nearly double that when you add in benefits.

That new superintendent can't get here soon enough.

Although I don't know what some of these positions do, I have no problem paying principals who manage 50-100 teachers and hundreds-thousands of students through an array of policies and performance requirements a decent salary. This is comparable to any private sector job who has similar responsibilities...probably less.

That's $21 million in an annual budget of $2.2 billion.

These salaries aren't where the money is going.

'Tis is true. Much of the money goes to infrastructure expenditures and not salaries.

Do FCPS adminstration and teachers get annual or performance-based bonuses? For some reason, I recall reading that they get the latter, but nothing fixed annually.

The "ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENTS" are stealing taxpayers' money. Most of them are former ineffective principals who have been pushed out and up to Gatehouse to get them out of the schools. They all need to retire and their positions abolished.

Same goes for the DIRECTORS = Empty Suits. Former inept principals who have been kicked upstairs. What gives here? ADMINISTRATIVE BLOAT???!!!!

The $135,000 secret is that principals can't wait to escape to Gatehouse as Directors or Assistant Superintendents. No more late night football games, irate parents, overprivileged students, stinky hallways, battling smokers in the restrooms, mining tons and tons of useless data evaluation reports.
