They should be forced to keep payphones in public places. If something big happens, your hip neato cool smartphone AIN'T GOING TO FUCKING WORK.

9-11. I worked in the Pentagon. Cell phones completly shit themselves. Found a pay phone in Crystal City. Called wife and told her I was OK.

All phones, landlines included, were down during 9/11, due to the immense volume of calls.

only payphones i know are inside Giant stores near the front. I think Walmarts always have some as well. All the larger County Rec Centers used to have at least one to but I'm not too sure on that anymore.

Last solo payphone I ever saw was at the park at the end of Sydenstricker next to the Pohick Library but they took that down years ago...........

So I just imagined that I called my wife from a payphone in Crystal City about a half hour after the plane hit the Pentagon?

Okay, whatever you say.

PTSD is REAL people!!! People are running around claiming to have called people when obviously it didn't happen!!

While MOST phones were definitely down those sad, sad days... I'm guessing this poor guy has better things to do than make false claim that he called his wife from a pay phone. I believe you called her, sir. Even if nobody else can seem to fathom the idea of phones working when their precious Blackberry's didn't!

Fair Oaks has a payphone near the entrance that's right by Coldstone and the Public Restrooms.

Also, I am sure that with it being 2013, Cell Phone networks bandwidth capacity has increased by a substantial amount. I am pretty sure phone calls wouldn't work, but data and texting should work which also should also you to contact others in an emergency situation.

They still have them in front of most 7-11's, don't they? I seem to remember an illegal immigrant talking on one last time I was in.
