I am worried that there has been a chemical attack that has made a substantial part of our country delusional for they keep crying out that "AMERICA IS DEAD". It seems that those most affected speak with Southern accents, watch NASCAR, listen to country music, sit like drones at the feet of religious "authorities, drink cheap beer, etc, so I am wondering if there has been some kind of chemical infused into the fabric of wife beater shits, or mixed in to the chemicals that compose the paint for trailer homes, or insinuated into the dirt that splatters on people who enjoy mud bogs.
In any event, cheer up my hillbilly, redneck brethren! I have made a thorough investigation and America is NOT dead! In fact, America is alive and well! America is granting civil rights to those who have been denied them for so long based on their sexual preference! America is freeing itself from the grasp of religious zealots who insist that orthodox Christianity be imposed on every citizen! America is fulfilling its promise to take in the "..huddled masses..." from countries who are less fortunate, and we are embracing them as they , too, chase the American Dream! American states are legalizing the most abundant "drug" in America, so that it can be taxed and become an economic asset! America is progressing and evolving (yes, I know that evolution is just a "theory") and changing with the times!
Liberate yourselves from the nefarious influence of your dire, macabre hallucinations, my knuckle dragging, slack -jawed, provicially minded fellow Amricans, and open your eyes to the reality of a vibrant, expanding, beautiful new America!

Wasn't Bill Hayes an actor on Days of Our Lives? I think he was a singer and married to Susan Hayes,if memory serves.

Mr. Hayes was a singer on the Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca variety show Your Show of Shows in the early 1950s. During the Davy Crockett craze in 1955, three recorded versions of the Ballad of Davy Crockett were in the top 30. Hayes' version was the most popular, and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks.[1] He also starred on Broadway in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Me and Juliet (1953). He had other small hits in the 1950s including "The Berry Tree" and covers of "High Noon" and "Wringle, Wrangle". "Wringle Wrangle" was his only other Hot 100 hit, reaching #33 in 1957.[1]

His singing career also found its way to his storyline on Days of Our Lives; in the story, Doug was introduced as a convict who was also a lounge singer.

The character of Doug returned in 1986 and 1987, as well as 1993 and 1996. Most recently, he has been on the show since 1999. His character was killed off in the spring of 2004 by Dr. Marlena Evans (This was done to reduce the show's budget). In an elaborate plot hatched by head writer James E. Reilly, Doug Williams turned up alive on a tropical island and went home to his wife.

He and his wife Susan are avid supporters of the West Texas Rehab Center, hosting the annual telethon in Abilene, Texas.
