Metro's "Dump the Pump Day"- June 19

Thursday is Metrorail's "Dump the Pump" day, where those fine folks over at WMATA encourage people to leave the car at home and take mass transit for the day. Which is pretty much a meaningless PR stunt that requires no investment on Metro's part, and really only serves to boost fare revenues and piss off the regular riders with even bigger crowds on a hot summer day.

But anyway, they have a free online contest to guess the total number of riders, person who gets the closest wins a $100 SmartTrip card. So I thought I'd mention it in case you ride metro and wanted a chance to win, or to pass along to co-workers or friends who do.

A hundred bucks! That's like almost 2 weeks of metro rides!! Good luck.

it costs more to take the metro than it does to drive to work!

But not as much as it does to park in Rosslyn.

Can you also win with the number of fires and derailments?

ISnt public transport supposed to be the cheap option to encourage people to take it instead of driving?

No wonder DC traffic sucks
